STREETS OF RESPITE - LATE AFTERNOON

----------------------------------------------

Louma soars high above the rooftops, coasting on the updraft with one arm tucked to her chest, holding a basket of snacks, mostly gone. She circles lazily for a few moments before starting a descent to the South end of town, landing mostly gently in a clear street. Her wings stretch, shake, and fold back as she looks to May. "You are right, it may be a little difficult to host anything in that field. Most folks we would invite couldn't climb it."

Maybelline sighs, glancing up at Louma from the custom flight satchel she's snugged into, "It was such a pretty field too, but not everyone can get their own flight in. Ah, such a shame."

Louma chucklkes quietly. "I could carry most of them, one at a time, but I might ruin my dress. What of your friend with the airship? Or would it not be able to land on that slope?"

Maybelline hums, considering. "Well, if we could get your sister and Xochi to help, that'd be three. As for the airship, I could ask, but that might be stretching the 'friendship', after all I hear she's actually doing paid ferry work now that the ship is operational. The slope might be a bit much, though. So, if we eliminate the meadow outside of town, how many places does that leave us from our list? The park, the orchard outside the eastern wall, and the pool south of the falls?"

Louma nods, relaxing a bit as she looks about the mostly residential area she'd landed them in. "I do believe any of those would be more than enough, and that lets us keep the field more of a secret for ourselves." She looks about, starting to slither along with May still in the harness. "Outdoors is certainly the choice, though. The park has started becoming fairly busy in the last few months. We've had to shuffle a few merchants that tried to set up permanent stalls there off to the marketplace to keep it from becoming crowded."

Maybelline doesn't seem to complain much about still being strapped in, giggling a bit at the mention of the 'secret field', "I'm sure we can use it for something~. So, maybe save the park for last resort, if nothing else works out? I can't imagine it'd be too hard to get either other spot though. The pool would give us a bit of cooler weather with the mist coming from the falls, and, I mean, our second date was there, so sentimental value... but it's a little cramped for space. The orchard has plenty of room and shade."

Louma thinks about it as she and May meander through the street. "It is a shame, though. We missed the blossoms already, unfortunately. We will even miss out on the sweet smells just before the harvest..."

Maybelline nods, "So... more things to enjoy just for the two of us, hm?" She tilts her had a bit, "Maybe I'm the weird one, especially listening to you and Maecy talk about the dresses and all that, but I never really had a 'perfect wedding' thought. Any place, any time, rain or shine, it's already going to be perfect as far as I'm concerned."

Louma grins, nodding along. "I just want it to be as wonderful as possible... Within our means." She giggles, looking to May. "We'll have the perfect wedding, as long as you're there with me, in a month."

Maybelline: "One month, one year, however long it takes, you know I'm there for you, scoops~" She leans up from the pouch to peck a kiss to Louma's cheek. "So the rest, as wonderful as we can manage. Honestly, even with it being the middle of summer, I think the orchard is the best bet unless you've got a good reason otherwise."

Louma blushes at the kiss, wiggling a little in response. "You're right, sweets, the orchard is probably the best choice."

Maybelline giggles at Louma's response, then nods as she settles herself back down into the harness pouch. "That's purely me being clinical though. If I had to follow my heart... Hm, no. Better not do that. We're in the street right now."

Louma blinks, then laughs quietly. "May! We spent the sunrise entwined, how did you become so insatiable~?" She pecks a kiss on May's forehead. "Not that I mind~" She takes a breath, shaking her head. "Control yourself, Louma..."

Maybelline blushes, giggling still, "I'm kidding! I'm kidding! Well, mostly..." She clears her throat, shaking her head a bit.

Louma grins, reaching down to May and placing her hand over the stoat's chest... To unlatch the harness so she can get out easier if she wants. "I know, my love~ So I know the end o July will be a bit warm, but I think most of our guests will need the notice anyhow. But I'm putting my tail down-" She thuds the end of her tail on the cobble to emphasize her mostly mock-serious tone. "Last week of July. No more dawdling. I will be your doting wife this summer."

Maybelline wriggles free once Louma has unlatched the harness, hopping down onto the road. She reaches a hand up to take Louma's. "And I will be yours, and all that much happier for it. I mean, in my head I know it won't change things much compared to how things are today, but... It's still just so weird and exciting and amazing all at once, and I can't wait."

Louma holds May's offered hand, slithering along beside her. "Maybe not much. Heck, I don't think we even get the usual marriage benefit pay raise, since we both already technically work for the town." She giggles, looking to May. "Not that I care about that. I just wanted to be yours on paper."

Maybelline nods, "We both know it. I guess it's just making it official for everyone else to know it too." She hums a bit, then giggles, "Pay raise would have been nice though..."

Louma: "Yeah, but that is fine. You're all the riches I need~" She grins, squeezing May's hand. "So now we have to make sure to get invitations out, figure on food for those people... There has to be an easier way to organize a wedding..."

Maybelline chuckles, "Yeah, you pay someone else to do it for you. Sadly, 'within our means', as you said, means we gotta do it ourselves. Thankfully, we have each other to rely on."

Louma nods, chuckling quietly. "I am sure that would be too much to be reasonable. Besides, we already know what we want." She gives May a rather unsubtle glance over, giggling after. "We'll need quite a bit of food... I wonder if Nesseth would be willing to cook some of it." She pauses. "Well... If he weren't a guest..."

Maybelline hums, "Yeah, him and Vix both. He helped teach me a good deal of my Orelan cuisine knowledge. And Vix likes to cook and make pastries and such as well. Could always ask, but I wouldn't expect them to cater the whole thing. Unless we wanted every guest to bring a dish?"

Louma blinks, the nods, squeezing May's hand again. "Brilliant, darling! A pot luck rather than gifts, since... I can't think of much I'd ask for anyhow."

Maybelline shrugs as if it's no big deal, but she's rather proud of her idea and it shows, "I think we've got everything we need in your house, and what we don't have, I could probably build? With a little time and elbow grease and scrap parts, anyways. I think a pot luck answers a lot of our concerns!"

Louma nods along, grinning. "I love it, and we probably don't have to worry about over-inviting a little, then."

Maybelline giggles, "Nah, probably not. That just means more food. I'll take care of the cake. ...I mean uh, it's probably our responsibility to pick out a cake. Though I wouldn't say no to other folks bringing desserts..."

Louma giggles, nodding. "I will take care of the cake, as a surprise for you, sweets."

Maybelline blinks blushing again, "Oh! Oh... well, you do know what I like. I'll have to think of what I should make for the wedding then."

Louma laughs, shaking her head. "I was going to commission a cake, not bake it. But if you want to make something, I wont be unhappy about it~"

Maybelline giggles, rubbing Louma's hand lightly, "I didn't expect you to bake a whole wedding cake, scoops. But I could make something, if I have the time. It's fun, and you seem to enjoy my cooking."

Louma giggles. "I love everything you let me eat~"

Maybelline squeezes Louma's hand, giggling as well, "Well somethings I'd be happy to share with everyone. Others are just for you, scoops~"

Louma sighs, blushing a bit across her bill as she averts her eyes from May's. "We really must behave, May. For now~"

Maybelline turns her head to look forward as they continue to head down the street together. "I am behaving perfectly, love. I'm a good Sarn girl. I promise."

Louma sighs, shaking her head ever so slightly and speaking quietly. "Now now, you shouldn't lie, that's naughty."

Maybelline smirks, blushing once again, "Me? Naughty? Well, my apologies. I would never be naughty. In public."

Louma nods quickly, giving May a sideways glance. "I figured as much. All this wandering around today has made me tired, darling. Would you accompany me home to... Freshen up, before we continue~?"

Maybelline bows her head to Louma, grinning "Of course, dear. I'm looking forward to seeing our plans come together."

Louma giggles, talking with Maybelline as they turn to head homeward, starting to work out a list of friends they want to invite, and speculating on what sort of foods they can expect to enjoy by going with a pot luck idea. Yep, the wedding plans are certainly coming together, and that will definitely be the only thing coming together because this is a family friendly scene.
