RESPITE PARK - AFTERNOON

Maecy is sitting on one of the benches in the shade, wearing a bright summer outfit. She has her notebook out and is idly sketching out ideas as she watches people walk by. It's a pretty quiet day, hotter than she's used to, but still quite pleasant, and she's made filled a few pages with idle doodles, waiting for inspiration to strike.
Mia was out for the day too. While in theory she probably didn't need to do 'stretches', it felt right for her, and besides, she liked the feeling of testing the limits of her body, and so she was by the lakeside, stretching out, and right now trying to touch her toes, sitting down. It was only the first step, sort of a way to 'limber up'.
Maecy does a bit of a stretch as well, standing up and stowing her notebook away, she hops down from the bench and decides its about time to take a walk, maybe get some lunch and such. She walks down towards the lake, pausing as she sees the familiar cat. She takes a moment to detour closer to her, waving "Hello, Mia! Enjoying the sunshine?"
Mia rolls to a sitting position, and hopes up "Yeah! Just stretching out, it feels good to just feel what the body can do, y'know? What about yourself? Find anything good to sketch out?" She seems in her usual chipper mood
Maecy shrugs, patting the notebook in her pocket. "Nothing much, but inspiration is a fickle thing sometimes. I've learned not to force it, so I've just been enjoying the day."
Mia: "Oh, that's valid. I'm sort of in a downswing for my own invention stuff, so I've decided just for now not to stress it. Something will come, or someone will ask me for something. I'm kinda just enjoying not -needing- to go nuts over some shiny invention to keep me going. Like you said, it's a lovely day!"
Maecy smiles, "Gotta know when to step back from things just as much as knowing when to push ahead with something. I don't know much about invention and all that, but I have to imagine there's at least some similarities with fashion design. You design, you build, you redesign... um... I guess that's about it."
Mia: "Yeah. You come up with a cool idea, and it's up in your head, and you're trying to make it appear in the world. Say, you gave me that idea for that knife a while back, and that was a cool project. What about in return, I commission something from you?" She strikes a pose "What would you do to update my look?"
Maecy reaches down to pull out her notebook, "Well, I acutally had a few ideas after we spoke last." She flips through the pages to present one such design, a very simple sketch of a cat with a more detailed outfit overlayed on it, "Something that both highlights and accentuates your body, I think. This one here is a bit open, with the exposed shoulders and short sleeves. Plus the corset..."
Mia: "Hmmm" She leans over her shoulder "I never really thought about a corset. That could be nice, accentuate the chest? I could see it, and I like the open shoulders" She clucks her tongue thoughtfully "Even if I didn't want to work in it, make something that either has no floaty bits, or the floaty bits cut away really easily if something pulls on them? I think I'd feel weird if I could be grabbed by anything trailling"
Maecy makes a few notes as Mia talks, more or less just jotting down her thoughts on the page. "I can understand that. I guess a lot of the design would depend on what you want to use it for. A lot of the stuff I've designed is for pretty big formal events." She flips the page to show another design, "Or there's something like this, which is a little more form-filling? It kind of takes your body shop and builds around it to give you a really commanding silhouette." The outfit is almost like a waistcoat vest, with accentuated shoulders. The pants are short and billowy, with a small gap above the stockings.
Mia: "Welll, I've never really had anything but work, and casual events for clothing, so it's never really been something I considered. Tell ya what! Why don't you design something for me if I was just going out on a date. Fancy as you like. What you think would be most likely to have the person on that date want to go on a second one"
Maecy blinks. "Well, that's kind of subjective isn't it?" She taps her pencil against her chin. "I could do it, but it would probably just be the kind of thing that I'd be looking for? Stylish but not too showy?"
Mia: "Well. I don't really have the best eye for design, so why not go to the expert! Stylish, but not too showy sounds good to me anyway. This is meant to be as much about giving you inspiration" She does a little turn, and pose in front of Maecy "Behold! Your canvass"
Maecy flips open to a fresh page, then stares at Mia with a critical eye, up and down her form. "Okay... You are really cute. So do I lean into that, or try to tip towards something else..." She thinks a moment as she sketches the rough outline to use as a template. "Well, if cute is your strength, go cute?"
Mia: "Well, I think you're quite experienced in cuteness, so perhaps you lean into your own strength of cute?" She blushes, just a little. She's never tried flirting before..well, there's Nesseth, but this feels...different, somehow.
Maecy giggles a bit awkwardly, "Well, I'm not really that cute." Seems she shares that denial with her sister, at least. "But I appreciate that. It's kinda funny, right? I don't really think about this stuff for myself. I've got a few outfits I like, but designing for myself never crosses my mind. Hmmm... Scarf or bow? I like the bow, Just the one, not too big, so let's see what that looks like."
Mia: "Sure! A bow and a scarf can be switched out easily enough too, so we can have both" She muses "I bet you'd make a really cute outfit for yourself, if you put your mind to it"
Maecy nods, making a note of that. "Maybe? Would still feel a little weird. What would I even look good wearing? The brown fur isn't exactly flattering either. And I'm a bit of a tube, so it's hard to do a lot with my body..." She sighs a bit. "You've got a really good body, just so you know. A lot you can do with it."
Mia: "Hmmm" She ponders "Okay, how about this. You're designing your thing, and in return, I'll try to see if I can design something for you! I'm not going to be nearly as good, or clever, but I love new challenges. Same idea. Something you'd wear on a first date. Sound like an idea?"
Maecy giggles, "Really? I... huh. Okay. Okay, you're on!"
Mia: "And then, we'll need to field test them afterwards. So, the two of us would need to go on dates, but we'd also need to be at each other's dates, to record the information...." She seems to be unable to work out the solution!
Maecy blinks, "Eh? To... field test them? So not just design, but actually make the outfits for one another and see what kind of reactions folks have? Honestly... honestly getting a date with someone would be the hardest part for me."
Mia: "Well, I'll need someone to go on a date with me too. Someone with a good eye for design would be ideal, and you'd need to be there too..."
Maecy seems lost in thought, trying to consider folks she knows who could fill in that place for Mia. She looks up slightly confused at the implications, "So... you need someone like me there? And me? So just... me?"
Mia: "Oh. That's a great idea!" Mia claps her hands "I'd be honoured to go on a date with you"
Maecy blinks again, suddenly blushing, "I w-wait, what? On a... date? For the... just for the field testing?"
Mia blushes as well "Uh..well, yes! but..we should still, make it as real of a date as possible, right?"
Maecy nods slowly, "Err, right? Right. I just uh... I don't know, it's a bit unexpected?"
Mia: "Well. I didn't wake up expecting this either, but then I woke up one morning a kobold, and went to sleep a catgirl, so..I've learned to enjoy the twists and turns"
Maecy laughs quietly, "Okay, that's a very fair point. You're right, it'll be fun!"
Mia: "We probably don't set too close a date, since we gotta plan each other's outfits"
Mia: "Maybe..two weeks?"
Maecy looks down at her design so far and nods, "That... I can work with that, yeah." She giggles, smirking at Mia, "Do you make all your dates design you an outfit?"
Mia: "Oh, I've.." She blushed "I've never really had a date like this before...."
Maecy hums, still blushing as well, "Well um, me either."
Mia: "So, solid research there too!" She giggles nervously "Um..I'm friends with May too, uh...should..she know?"
Maecy snrks, "Oh, absolutely. I mean, uh... I don't know? It might annoy her, which, as her sister is basically my job. But... if you think it'd actually hurt her... um... I wouldn't want that."
Mia: "She's getting married. I think she'll be fine if her friend is dating her sister, just..it feels weird for me to bring up, since I knew her first and all..."
Maecy nods, "Oh, she'll be fine. But yeah, I can tell her if you'd rather."
Mia: "Well, if I see her, I'll tell her, so..maybe wait a week? I might want to get her advice on sizes, since..I think you're about the same size?"
Maecy sighs slightly, "We're not..." She shakes her head, "Okay yes, we have exactly the same measurements."
Mia: "You look the same silly~ You're just a bit cuter is all"
Maecy blushes again, looking down. "Ah, well, thank you, Mia."
Mia: "Okay, so..shall we ..get to our designing?"
Maecy picks her notebook back up and nods, "Y-yes... yes! Yes! Designing!"
