JUST OUTSIDE OF THE SOUTH GATE - EVENING
----------------------------------------------
Brunilda leads Fiora forward out of the gates, the eyes of the other possum covered with a cloth as they slowly walk towards a particular spot. The night is getting darker, but only somewhat as the moon is bright with dozens of stars helping it. Brunilda is dressed in a simple yet slightly glittering purple dress, while her girlfriend has a matching blue piece. If nothing else, it cost the pair pretty much nothing to get those pieces done because of their size. The red-haired possum has been slightly nervous all day, and at this point Fiora likely is starting to have a clue as to why.
Fiora follows Brunilda's guiding hand, a little nervous and eager, and constantly defying the urge to peek. The dress is quite new and odd feeling to her as well, even in her normal form she never really wore dresses. "Soooo ...we there yet?" She's not impatient, just eager... maybe a little impatient.
Brunilda giggles nervously as she leads Fiora onwards, off to the side from the path to a small rise in terrain. On said rise is a huge slab of stone with a flat top edge, making an approximation of a table... for someone much bigger than the two are currently. On the sides are couple of big rocks approximating chairs, equallly useless for the current situation. However, on top is a candlelit dinner for two, with various plates of assorted snackery and a bottle of wine.
Brunilda gives Fiora a nervous grin: "We're here."
Fiora reaches up to remove the blindfold, taking a moment to take in the sight, looking around for whatever it is Brunilda has led her towards, before her eyes go upward to the dinnertable, "Wha... oh, oh! Aww! Brun! That's... very sweet. If a bit... challenging at the moment? I'm guessing you booked in advance?"
Brunilda giggles, blushing: "Yeah, uh... been planning this for a while." She nods at the one of the 'chairs' as a way for the two to actually get on the table, still holding Fiora's hand: "I've been wanting to give you something like this."
Fiora squeezes Brun's hand in hers, nodding as they make their way towards the chair to climb up, "I never feel like I'm worth all this much effort, to be honest... but I love it, and I love you, so you know... uh... I suck at the romance stuff... but it's perfect, thank you, Brun."
Brunilda laughs nervously as they make they way to the top, with them helping each other to make the climb: "I uh... yeah, not like I'm good at it either, but well, suppose here we are." The possum giggles: "And I-I love you too, of course."
Fiora laughs, helping hoist Brunilda up the final bit onto the table. "Well, I guess we can struggle and be bad at it together. You did get us a team activity for tonight, and I love that. Honestly, once we're back to normal, we should go for a hike up towards the mountains or something. Would be fun!"
Brunilda smiles as she looks about the table, realizing she'd only gotten one of the supposed sitting pillows up here. "M-maybe. I've never really hiked, though." She blinks: "Oh. I meant to bring the other pillow too, but then I got distracted by other stuff. I hope you don't mind." She kind of knows Fiora doesn't and she's being a silly, but the nerves are getting to the ex-elephant pretty bad right now.
Fiora grins, "Oh no, we'll have to share!" She bumps Brun gently, "I think you'd enjoy it? I mean, maybe not? But it's worth a try right, It'd just be the two of us out together fighting off the wilderness! Maybe not a lot of fighting. We can stick to the trails to the east, keep it simple." She pauses, tilting her head at Brun with a smile, "Just... stuff we can do together, you know?"
Brunilda giggles nervously as she leads Fiora to the one pillow: "Well, yeah. I like doing stuff with you, of course. Not that I really need to say it to you. You know that I know that. But er, uhm..." The redhead is definitely having nerves get the better of her right now.
Fiora pokes Brun again, "Hey... it's alright, Brun. It's just me. We've done this before... and before I got a clue even. It's all good. YOU are all good." She leans over to peck Brun's cheek as the reach the pillow.
Brunilda blinks as they sit down, and she leans on Fiora a bit: "S-sorry. Just wanted this to be good. I t-think it worked out?"
Fiora nods, "It did. You've caught your quarry. Full marks. Uh, that means you did good."
Brunilda giggles, giving Fiora's cheek in turn a kiss. "F-fair enough." She glances at the bottle of wine that's almost as tall as they are: "Um... that wine might have been a bit much. How do we even open it?" She realizes as soon as the words leave her lips that certain someone is going to take that as a challenge.
Fiora glances up and gets a stern look. "Oh. We're going to get it open, mark my words."
Brunilda looks at Fiora: "Oh um... well, if you have ideas..." She mutters half a thought aloud, "This is so going to backfire, isn't it?"
Fiora gasps at Brun, "What? Noo! When have my plans ever... um..." She pauses to think. "Okay, don't answer that."
Brunilda giggles nervously: "Just be careful, love. We're so small now."
Fiora studies the wine bottle as she stands up from the pillow and walks closer. "It's all a matter of applied force... and um... hm."
Brunilda frowns slightly, but then her mind turns to the problem at hand: "...we need something to pry the cork out with, don't we. Hmm."
Fiora glances back at Brun, "Hm? Yeah, I was thinking of smashing the bottle... which... doesn't exactly get us the wine. I mean, it does, but more as a splash zone kind of thing."
Brunilda giggles: "There's of course just the option of running back to Minnow and borrowing an opener. Would save us glass shards."
Fiora: "Oh yeah, I guess without hooves glass shards are a thing..." She shrugs, "Could definitely do that I suppose. Feels like the easy way, though."
Brunilda hums again: "Or... hmm." She looks about the tableware they have and picks up a fork: "Maybe...?"
Fiora tilts her head at first, then breaks into a wide grin. "Oh yeah! Let's give it a try!" She grabs the wine bottle, struggling just a bit with the size of it, and tilts it down towards Brun, presenting the cork towards her and bracing herself to hold the bottle in place.
Brunilda nods and starts prying the fork into the cork, not even realizing she's having her tongue out as she focuses on the task at hand. "Mm... it's possible but going to be tight." She starts carefully, methodically prying the cork out, pausing at points to slightly bend the tines of the fork to fit it in better. Eventually, with a loud 'pop!' the cork is free and despite a bit of spill on Brunilda's dress, most of the wine still in the bottle.
Fiora pulls the bottle back as the cork pops, letting out a victory cheer! "Hell yeah! And hey, victory wine to celebrate! Perfect!" She manuevers the bottle towards the glasses and manages to pour in a perfectly normal serving size for each of them... if they were normally sized, at least...
Brunilda grins: "We did it. We did it? Hehe." She glances at the glasses: "Uh... probably best we be careful with the amount, too." She takes a sip, then sits back down on the pillow, sighing happily.
Fiora laughs, "Of course we did it! Your brains and my brawn? What problem couldn't we solve?" She shrugs as she fills her own glass, then setting the bottle back and moving back to the pillow to sit with Brun. "Eh, I can handle my booze. This is just wine, too."
Brunilda giggles as she prods Fiora on the side: "Well, I'll be here to enjoy it with you." She glances at the various cups of assorted snacks, some rather experimental meat-things she's gathered as things to try. "Just gotta remember to eat too."
Fiora takes a long drink, then steps back a bit with a shake of the head, "Whoa... yeah... food too! Right!" She leans against Brunilda and laughs, "This is perfect, Brun."
Brunilda leans against Fiora and smiles: "It is. It kinda really is, isn't it?" She gives Fiora's cheek a nuzzle, a habit she's slowly picked up in lieu of using her trunk: "And here I was so worried."

SHORTLY AFTER A PLEASANT MEAL
----------------------------------------------
Fiora sighs in contentment, having drank her entire glass of wine along with the meats and cheeses, she's feeling surprisingly full from what seems like so little food. She leans over to kiss Brun on the cheek again, very pleasantly buzzed.
Brunilda giggles at the kiss, having had just a bit of wine herself. "That was good, like, all of that. Even those little bug things, that sorta surprised me but curiosity won so I had to have us try."
Fiora giggles along with Brun, staying leaned up against her and reaching down to hold Brun's hand. "I've eaten all sorts o' stuff, but those were definitely weird. Good though, yeah."
Brunilda leans on Fiora: "Good kind of weird." She giggles again: "Like us."
Fiora nods, still giggling, "Like us." She leans over to kiss again, before shifting back against the pillow to look up at the stars that came out over the course of dinner. "'s a pretty perfect night. Never had many like this."
Brunilda mm's at the kiss, then leans back as well: "Is good. Better than good, really. Just wanted to give you this, you know?"
Fiora hums a bit, frowning, "'m not a very good girlfriend. I never think of stuff like this. Romantic dinners... I want to give you stuff too, you know?"
Brunilda looks at Fiora: "Nonsense. You're a good girlfriend, just not all that big into this fluffy stuff I kinda like."
Fiora sighs, squeezing Brun's hand again as she turns her head to look at her girlfriend. "I... I can try to do better. I like it when we're doing it. I like this."
Brunilda smiles: "I mean, nothing's stopping you from trying? I'm game." She leans to nuzzle Fiora: "I t-think we're both learning, but I like learning with you."
Fiora hums, nuzzling back. "Yeah, 's pretty great. You're so much smarter than I am about everything, but I guess we're both kinda novices at this whole love thing."
Brunilda mms: "Definitely new to this. But like... we're doing our own thing? It's nothing like anything I ever read, but... we worked it out?" She glances at their bodies and giggles: "Well, present size nonwithstanding."
Fiora glances down at herself, then slowly nods. "Yeah... yeah. If it works... we can figure it out, right? Even this size stuff... we'll figure it out."
Brunilda lets out a giggle that fades into a sigh of sorts. "I-it's scary, a-and like if there's no solution or cure? We'd be stuck like this and... w-well, at least I'd be with you."
Fiora sighs as well, "Y-yeah... I don't like ta' let those thoughts in... but they're there, right? Just like, what if... not goin' anywhere though. I'd be with you, and you'd be with me."
Brunilda shifts to hold Fiora into a hug: "W-we'd still be awful crazy together, just a lot smaller. I-it's not ideal in any sense, b-but I think I'd rather be like this with you, than an elephant again without you."
Fiora sniffles, clearly a little drunk and redfaced, as she hugs back. "It's all jus' another challenge you know... world's fulla wine bottles for us to bust open together though."
Brunilda blinks and giggles despite the slight bit of emotion in her throat: "B-buh. Yeah. Love you an your challenges."
Fiora chokes up a bit, and hugs Brun tighter before letting her go. "I've always got your back, though. Don't wanna think about losin' you."
Brunilda sniffles: "Me too. Love you... r back." She giggles despite her flood of emotions: "C-can't lose you, you're too amazing."
Fiora manages a giggle, "You're not gonna lose me, or my butt. My butt's indestruct'ble."
Brunilda giggle-sniffles: "'Is pretty perfect. Pretty an perfect. Even now."
Fiora blushes, "I'm... scared that we're gonna be stuck like this, Brun... but I also know it doesn't matter, cause you're perfect anyways, an' I really don't care what you look like, cause you look perfect to me too'."
Brunilda nuzzles, tearing up some more: "I d-don't care either, an I'm scared, b-but we will pull through cause we're us an if that dumb war didn' do us in, nothin ever will."
Fiora nuzzles back with a quiet laugh, "That's what I think too. I've survived worse. We both have."
Brunilda giggle-sniffles again, holding Fiora close: "I wanna keep you right here."
Fiora rolls slightly to pull Burnilda into a hug on top of her. "'M not going anywhere."
Brunilda giggles as she is pulled: "Eek! Well um neither am I! R-right here." She nuzzles Fiora, smiling through her tears.
Fiora: "Don' usually get to snuggle like this... even bein' a possom has perks."
Brunilda: "Less stuff gettin' in the way cause we're all tiny."
Fiora giggles, "Might'as well enjoy that bit."
Brunilda hugs tight: "Mm, is what we should do while... all that other stuff."
Fiora smiles at Brun, "'S not so bad I guess... comfy cozy... the pillow's nice too."
Brunilda giggles tiredly: "S'definitely not bad. You're so soft... always were, but now like, extra."
Fiora kisses Brun on the snout. "Wanna head home and get real cozy? Cause having that big ass bed is another pretty nice perk."
Brunilda kisses back: "We could do some of that. Pretty thing~."
Fiora reluctantly lets Brunilda roll off of her, and the two possums drunkenly cling to one another as they make the adventure back to home, with varying degrees of giggling and crying along the way.
