NORTHERN WALL - RESPITE FALLS - LATE MORNING

----------------------------------------------

Nesseth stands at his post along the wall, crossbow strapped to his back as he watches the plains north of the town for anything and everything that might be dangerous. Of course, with as settled as the town is nowadays, the walls have been rather quiet all around. He yawns a bit as the warmth of the sun starts to soak into his scales.

Mirriam fidgets with her empty carrier bags as she makes sure there aren't any stray letters being naughty and hiding, slowly wandering along the outside of the wall and about to cross Nesseth's line of sight. She turns the bag over, giving it a shake and muttering "Why d'ya give me the feelin'... How'd I get y'all d'livered an hour fast?"

Nesseth glances around as he hears someone walking and talking nearby, only to chuckle a bit and smile as he calls to answer Mirriam's rhetorical question. "Maybe your bag knew you'd run into my post, Mirriam? Busy morning?"

Mirriam perks up, stopping halfway through turning the second satchel over, only dropping a couple bits of lint. "Oh! Well ya, must'a been, huh? Not busy enough though, cher, got a lotta time ta burn yet." She hums, considering the wall for a minute. "I'm on the wrong side, I think."

Nesseth glances around a bit, then steps to the edge of the wall and jumps down. The drop is enough that he has to spend a few moments just crouching as he absorbs the shock of landing. He grunts a bit as he stands back up and dusts himself off, then grins. "Ahh... there we go. How's this, then?"

Mirriam yelps a bit when Nesseth jumps down, giving him a stern look after he gets upright again. "Ness! Don' do stuff like that! I know Plume c'n heal ya with their lovin' touch, but geez!" She walks up as she lightly reprimands him, tapping his snout on the 'geez' before hugging him.

Nesseth smiles a bit, only to flinch as he gets tapped on the snout. It doesn't stop him from hugging Mirriam back, though. "Well, I figured it was either I jumped down, or you walked all the way around and up the stairs." He sneaks a little kiss on her cheek, "And the wall's not all that high."

Mirriam blushes at the kiss, squeezing Nesseth in response and sighing. "Hun, I could'a run to the nearest gate. Oh well, we're here now. How's ya guard duty goin'?"

Nesseth hugs Mirriam just as warmly. "Fair, but still, maybe I just wanted to hug you that much, hm?" He laughs a bit and shakes his head, "Pretty dull, really. The walls are all quiet the past few months. I don't even think we've seen anything bigger than maybe a wild boar or two wandering around recently."

Mirriam releases the hug, mostly because her courier bag is stuck between them and jabbing her, but also to make it easier to talk. "Oh? I'm not in danger 'a being bored out here, am I?"

Nesseth chuckles and steps back a little. "Depends on what you consider boring, anyway. At the very least, we can entertain each other if it gets boring."

Mirriam grins. "Boars gettin' aggressive would be boring. Well they'd be boring. Boaring."

Nesseth tries to keep a straight face, but lets out a snort of amusement as his restraint fails. He dips his head, his shoulders bobbing a little as he keeps his laughter under wraps. "Yeah... yeah, that they'd be."

Mirriam laughs at Nesseth's reaction, shaking her head. "How dare ya laugh at tha', it was too stupid! Encouragin' me like that is a bad habit, cher!" She breaks down in giggles anyways, leaning against Nesseth.

Nesseth slips an arm around Mirriam again and hugs her softly. "Oh, come on, Mirriam, you know I'm always the sort to encourage you." He grins, "Besides, that's how dull it's been. Such a silly joke is enough to get a laugh out of me."

Mirriam wrangles her giggles in, hugging Nesseth back. "Glad I c'n bring a little chuckle, then! Sorry ya did have ta hop down inta the shade t'get it, though."

Nesseth shrugs a little. "Probably for the best, really. I've gotten a bit of a habit over the recent years of dozing off in the sun when it gets really warm." He nods up at the wall behind him, "And up there is one of the warmest spots in town during the day."

Mirriam grins. "Only warmer place is probably yer own roof, what with the sunning mirrors, eh cher?" She hums, getting a distant gaze while overthinking for a moment. "Though I guess ya got that kinda heavy uniform on when snoozin' up the wall, but yer butt nekked on the roof..."

Nesseth nods and smiles. "It sort of evens out. The mirrors were something Mia came up with, and decided to test it out. It's really nice, honestly, and I can turn them off if I don't want to get all toasty."

Mirriam hums, coming back to the present with a blush that had risen over a ew seconds. "Huh? Sorry, I wasn' listen'n. Started thinkin' about yer nekked butt."

Nesseth chuckles and smirks at Mirriam, giving her a light bump with his hip before letting his tail wrap lightly around one of her legs. "Oh? Is my scaly butt really that distracting?"

Mirriam giggles at the bump, wrapping her tail around his leg in turn. "It is, yea. Along with the rest of yer scaly bits." She brushes the back of her hand against the front of his trousers while adjusting the satchel between the two of them. "As well as the not so scaly bits~"

Nesseth winks playfully as he teases Mirriam's side through her uniform, his fingers gently squeezing her a bit. "So basically every bit of me you can think of, hm? Good news is that you're welcome to those bits whenever you like~" He teasingly sticks his tongue out for a moment, "You're pretty distracting, yourself, you know~"

Mirriam grins, blushing as she looks away for a moment. "Awh, yer a sweetheart and totally spoilin' me, cher~" She turns back to him for a kiss.

Nesseth leans in to meet the kiss with a happy little hum. As it breaks, he smiles a little more. "Maybe I'm spoiling you, but it's how I work, dear." He chuckles, "Besides, wall duty is basically free time for me anyway. I might as well spend it flirting with you~"

Mirriam hums when the kiss breaks, a familiar look in her eyes as the blush burns bright. "W-well then, if you're offering, cher~" She lets go of him, her tail wrapping around his arm as she saunters away, leading him to the bushes against the wall. "No take-backs~" She teases, starting to shed her uniform jacket.

Nesseth follows after Mirriam with a playful smirk on his face, slipping into the bushes with her without much in the way of complaining at all. "Honestly, I'd say all you have to do is ask, but, well... I don't even think you need to worry about that, on my end." He starts to work on the armor pieces on his trousers, but still sneaks a light kiss on the roo's nose, "Duty check isn't due for another forty minutes or so, so we've plenty of time~"

Mirriam kisses him back, pressing her bare chest against him. "Mmh, we'll have to use the time wisely, then~" She glances over the bushes, giggling as the two are obscured by the leafy natural curtain.
