THE THIRSTY MINNOW - EVENING
----------------------------------------------
Fleuret heads to the tavern after a nice day's work. Though she hasn't been here often, it's becoming something of a comfortable space.
Scilla scrambles herself down the stairs. The genet is a bit haphazardly clothed and is holding her hand on her head as she walks a bit awkwardly down the stairs. She's definitely seen better days. Even then, she brightens up a bit upon seeing the not-unicorn: "Hey there Fleuret! How are you doing?" She winces right after, cursing herself for raising her voice. Shouldn't have done that.
Fleuret looks over to Scilla, an expression of concern crossing her face. "I'm alright, but are you?"
Scilla winces again as she steps down to the main floor: "Mostly? Sorta? Ish?"
Fleuret nods a bit. "You at least seem intact, so that is good."
Scilla hobbles over to a table and waves over for a pint she'll just add to her tab. To be fair, she hasn't been accumulating that in a while... "I'm fine, well. Sort of, just my head and my thighs aren't rightly thanking me at the moment."
Fleuret follows Scilla, to settle in beside her. She orders herself a wine. "Did you not treat them well, or might the blame be laid at another's feet?"
Scilla blinks at the question, then considers her answer thoroughly. Finally, she nods: "Yes."
Fleuret giggles. "A bit of both, then."
Scilla winces again, sighing: "Yeeeeah. Learning a new hobby is not kind to you, nor is occasionally construction work."
Fleuret nods. "What sort of hobby might this be?"
Scilla shrugs, taking a sip of her newly acquired drink: "Dancing. Just sorta picked that up on a whim."
Fleuret ahhs. "That is a classic. From the sounds of it, one of the more energetic styles, I would imagine."
Scilla nods, leaning on the table: "Well, it sure felt like it. Ow."
Fleuret: If you keep at it, I am sure your body will adjust to it with time. I assume you enjoyed yourself, at least.
Scilla sighs: "Yeah, there's that. I mean, at least it's not getting me covered in mud. Or at least, any dance I know of..."
Fleuret thinks for a moment. "Mud wrestling, I have heard of, but not mud dancing."
Scilla takes another sip: "Yeah... maybe not. I'm a bit small for that wrestlin' stuff."
Fleuret chuckles. "And I a bit lightweight, I'd think."
Scilla giggles: "Maybe a bit. But like, you have potential experience? Err, however that goes."
Fleuret shakes her head a bit. "I cannot say I have much experience when it comes to the art of combat."
Scilla points at Fleuret: "But time to get it! Right, that's what you said, yeah? Sort of a lot of time to figure out anything you want to?"
Fleuret rubs her chin. "This is true.. I have plenty of time to learn, should I wish to. I shall grant there have been times when some fighting skills may have been useful."
Scilla tilts her head curiously: "Wanna talk about them? I got all night."
Fleuret hmms. "Well, I suppose. There has been the obvious. Muggers, caravan raiders and the like. Times when I had reason to appreciate the presence of guards."
Scilla glances up at Fleuret's non-horn: "But don't you like... have magic and stuff too? You could learn that to kick ass!"
Fleuret giggles a bit. "That I could! I am not violent by nature, but there are definitely good combat applications for magic. I would be lying if I said I had never picked up on any in my time."
Scilla grins eagerly: "Can you show me any?"
Fleuret blinks, and looks around the bar. "I suspect the owner would prefer I not damage his property in a demonstration."
Scilla glances at Barkeep, then shrugs defeatedly: "Oh fine, I guess you're right. But you gotta show me sometime!"
Fleuret hees, and nods. "I would not mind that sometime, somewhere more appropriate."
Scilla shrugs with a grin: "Well, there's them training grounds I think? We're not Guards but who cares, right?"
Fleuret gives her wine a sip before nodding. "Makes sense to me. I cannot imagine it being too difficult to get some time in there to practice such things."
Scilla giggles: "I'm just eager to see, I got nothing to practice. But, yeah! Sounds pretty great, really. I mean, it was my idea, of course it's great."
Fleuret giggles. "You do seem the sort to be brimming with ideas."
Scilla waves her hand: "Well, mostly bad ones, but gotta get through those to get to the good ones, you know? Keep trying!"
Fleuret nodnods. "One cannot know which ideas are the good ideas until they've been tested out."
Scilla grins brightly: "Yes! Gotta try all the bad ones to find the great ones! Though I would appreciate less pain next time, but can't always pick and choose, you know?"
Fleuret nods. "Indeed. And sometimes the bad ones have arguably positive side effects." She gestures at her horn.
Scilla nods, then hums as she looks at the horn: "So... getting any closer on what you can and can't do with that?"
Fleuret ehs.. "I have had it for some time, of course, but it is rather a wholly unique situation. I have been hesitant to push it too hard, as I am not certain what might happen if I overexerted."
Scilla shrugs: "Fair I guess. My magic is..." she waves her hand: "...kinda vague, at best. Can't really control it, but it's like this... thing, that directs me to ores, metals, and finding the 'touch' to fiddle with it...?"
Fleuret ahhs. "Interesting. That seems a useful skill indeed. Profitable, at the very least."
Scilla giggles, then winces as she puts a paw on her forehead: "Yeah, it is. If I can get out there. So far just scramblin' by, fixing things."
Fleuret hmms. "Do you work alone, then? I would imagine a prospecting group would take you along in a heartbeat, given the chance."
Scilla hums: "I guess so but, yeah, mostly working alone. It... f-fits my schedule better."
Fleuret tilts her head a bit. "I guess there is something keeping you from taking on such a trek, then."
Scilla winces, leaning back and looking aside: "Yeah uh... I can't guarantee being able to... well, be there, at any planned time? If that makes sense."
Fleuret mms. "I shall not pry, if you wish me not to."
Scilla sighs: "Story for another time, probably. Right now I just... dunno, something else to talk about?"
Fleuret sips her wine again. "I am still kind of settling into this town, so I have few stories as of yet."
Scilla giggles softly: "Yeah, sorta same here. Making friends, breaking stuff, fixing it... the usual in a new place."
Fleuret sighs a bit. "As for me, still trying to work out what this new life, as it were, even means."
Scilla shrugs and leans back: "Much to figure out, and I'm not one to tell you. Probably."
Fleuret nods. "I will come up with something, to be sure. Time will only tell what it is."
Scilla smirks and raises her pint: "Well, here's hopin'!"
Fleuret clinks her wine glass to Scilla's pint, and smile. "Indeed."
