RESPITE FALLS STREETS - EVENING
----------------------------------------------
Fleuret wanders about the city, the day's job search not entirely fruitful. When she sees the welcoming entrance to the Thirsty Minnow, she decides it might be worth a look, and heads that way.
Annika: Whatever else might be going on, Annika still has her day job, and so when it's done she occasionally takes the time to grab a meal at the Minnow. The three tailed fox is settled into a table, with a small bowl of stew in front of her, which she is started, with the aid of some bread. It's good stuff, overall.
Fleuret enters the tavern, and glances around curiously. "Seems nice enough.."
Annika glances up briefly, and acknowledges Fleuret with a nod, but continues her meal. She's polite, but she's not going to just outright start talking people up as they enter the room. After all, maybe Fleuret is here to meet someone!
Fleuret sees only the fox present, and walks her way. "Good eve, miss."
Annika: "Evening! I don't think I've seen you around, and I've got a pretty decent memory for faces. I take it you're new then?"
Fleuret nods politely. "Indeed. I have only just arrived. Still getting my bearings as it were." She looks about the tavern. "I felt it might be good to stop in somewhere inviting, you know?"
Annika: "Well, a tavern is a good spot to start yes. Tends to have a lot of travelers" She flicks her tails idly "So, what brings you to Respite?"
Fleuret gestures questioningly at a seat, as if to ask if she may sit. "Oh, that's a bit of a.. well, it'd be a bit of a story, were I inclined to tell it. For now, my name. Fleuret, if it pleases."
Annika nods "Well, sit down. I'm Annika. You can tell your story, if you want"
Fleuret settles into a seat and nods. "I suppose the short version is that there is nothing left for me where I was. I imagine I am not the first to hold such a sentiment."
Annika: "Aye. So you're here to ...find something new? Anything in particular, or are you just hoping to know that answer to that when you see it?"
Fleuret nods softly, letting her head hang for a moment. "Maybe the answer will come to me in time. I have that in surplus, if nothing else."
Annika: "Well!" She puts her hands together "Perhaps you could start with figuring out what you enjoy? Maybe that will help"
Fleuret sits up with a smile. "There are things I enjoy, true. Things that will always be, like music and magic and nature."
Annika: "Well, all of those are around here" She hmms "For Magic, do you use it, or just... appreciate it from a far?"
Fleuret laughs a little despite herself. "Magic is very near and dear to me. You could say I live for it."
Annika: "Oh, well. Depending on what you can do, there's plenty of opportunities in that regard. There's a handful of magic users around"
Fleuret nods again. "There often are, though they don't always want it to be known, I find. I wouldn't mind putting my talents to use, if I can find a reputable outlet for them."
Annika: "There's some artificers around, if that's your inclination. Then there's always the need for some magical examiners, and the guard is always on the lookout for magic too"
Fleuret hmms. "Artifice might be a good route to pursue. That is where my training lies, after all."
Annika: "Oh. Yes, plenty of opportunity there. The market would be a good place to start. Lots of them show off their trade there"
Fleuret nods. "Then perhaps I shall give the market a look in the near future. What keeps you busy then, Annika?"
Annika: "Ah, well. I look after my little brother when I'm not at work and..uh.." Victoria. She blushes a little "And, uh..I spend a good bit of time with my partner too"
Fleuret ahhhhs. "Such connections are precious."
Annika: "That they are" She agrees
Fleuret lets out a small sigh. "This might be a bit of a heavy question, but I wonder. Do you ever worry you might lose them someday?"
Annika: "That's an odd question to ask out of nowhere" There's a small tilt of her head "No. I don't"
Fleuret mms. "Sorry. Even after the trip here I can't shake that feeling."
Annika: "Loss happens. I'm not going to spoil what I have by worrying about not having it"
Fleuret: Yes, that does seem a healthy way to look at things, I suppose. I apologize if I'm being a bit morbid tonight.
Annika: "Do you..want to talk about why that's on your mind?"
Fleuret pauses a moment to think about it. "It is the past. Another lifetime. Maybe someday I can reminisce, but at this point... I fear I should prefer not to go into it."
Annika: "Well, I won't press then" She hmms "So, any immediate plans then?"
Fleuret nods again, relieved a bit to slip off this topic. "Most likely checking out that market, then. I have resources, but they won't last forever, so I ought to find a way to be useful out here."
Annika: "If you have magics, then I'm sure you'll be able to work something out!"
Fleuret giggles. "Indeed. It is always in demand."
Annika: "In any case, I think I have to go. Oliver is probably finished up at the carer, and I need to pick him up"
Fleuret ms and nods. "And I ought to order something for myself. I think they might not appreciate someone 'just looking'. Thank you for talking with me, Annika."
Annika: "It was a pleasure!" And with that, she departs.
