RESPITE MARKETPLACE - AFTERNOON

Maecy is heading out of the Marketplace at a slow pace. She's foregone her usual 'dressier' outfits for her more utilitarian working outfit, a dress akin to a smock with various pockets, filled with fabric working tools she's been busy purchasing today. A pair of tiny glasses sits upon her snout as she glances down at her makeshift list with a sigh, talking to herself aloud, "So, that should be everything I need, but I still don't know if it'll be enough. I guess we'll find out tonight, and come back for whatever else I need tomorrow?"
Strix: While Strix would not be one to interrupt someone's outer monologue, they're also someone that's happy to take advantage of such things, and as such as Strix saw Maecy approach he rummages under the table, pulls out a nice pair of sheers, and lays out a small sign quickly writing out "Fabric Auto-Sheers" They'll sheer anything automatically, but also fabric. So it's not lying really.
Maecy glances towards the alley absent-mindedly, then stops as she spots the sign. She shifts her path to head towards the table, looking around the alley a little cautiously before stopping. She examines the sheets, then nods to Strix, "So... Auto-Sheers? They're like... magitech?"
Strix: "Well. All Magic is Tech. Yes? Tech just innovative stuff! So make any magic. It Tech" There's a pause, as the kobold ponders matters "But yes. Uses Magic, and electricity stuff together. Sheers.." There's a pause "Fabric. Also anything else, but also Fabric"
Maecy hums, "I mean, that is all true, I guess? So, any Fabric? Because I'm trying to deal with a very tough one, and I don't want to damage it, but it broke my normal sheering scissors last night, so I had to find replacements today, but I'm still kinda... unsure."
Strix: "Strix never say any, because Strix can always find strong thing. Any ..marketing term" There's a pause "Marketing term Strix word for lie" He clarifies briefly "But is okay. Read it in selling things book, but if May.." There's a pause "Wait, not May. If May-ish want cutter for anything. Strix can make better cutter"
Maecy blinks. "Oh! Oh yes, um, no. Not May. Well, Mae. But not May... um... no, she's my sister. I'm Mae...cy. Maecy. I need something that will cut spidersilk, if they can do that, then I'll take them. If they can't... can you make one that can?"
Strix: "No! Not May, but May-ish" There's a not "Right! Spidersilk" There's a pause "Why does Maysis want to cut spidersilk..."
Maecy brings her hand up to her chest and motions downward at her attire, "I'm a fashion designer. And I am going to design a custom outfit from spidersilk. But uh, to do that, I sorta need to be able to cut it."
Strix: "Yes. Makes sense. Spider knows about this? Don't want to annoy spiders. Spiders find kobolds too tasty"
Maecy nods, "Oh! She knows, yes. Ms Lthl is the one who gave me the silk."
Strix: "Good, Good" There's some pondering and rummaging under the desk "Strix can make cutty thing. Now. Uh...Maybe mean question, but how..careful is Maecy? Strix can make really, really good cutter, but..be bit dangerous. Need to be careful" There's some more thought "Well, if cutting clothing. Need accurate cutty thing? That haaaarder" Strix emerges "If rough cutter thing, Strix can make that" They've wired up a steak knife to some machine under the table. They seem excited as they flip a switch, and the knife starts to hum, and glow. He's holding it in his metal hand. "Strix call this .." There's a pause "So many glowy cutty names already..."
Maecy: "Maecy, err, I mean me... I mean I! I'm very careful, and accuracy is very important. I was always taught measure twice cut once, and I mean, I prefer to do the design work, but you can't just design. Gotta get your hands dirty sometimes." She glances nervously at the glowknife, not feeling any less nervous based on the implications presented by that metal hand, "I um... guessing that's not all that safe to touch?"
Strix: "Well. Handle safe! Blade not safe, but blade never safe!" They test it against a bit of scrap nearby and...it actually digs in pretty well, before the blade melts "...Well. That first try. First Try never the best try" They turn it off, and return back to Maecy "Don't worry. Strix will have good idea soon. So, need accurate cutter thing, uh..probably lower heat so no burns, but Strix remember Spidersilk super tough, so probably not super important. This good project! May give good projects too! Happy Maecy same"
Maecy smiles, "I'm glad to hear you've work with May! If she trusts you, it does give me a lot more confidence." She clears her throat, "Um, you know, since we just met and all."
Strix: "Oh, Strix very quick to trust. Strix not find this problem. If Maecy not worth trust, Strix just run away later" There's a pause "Strix will do shinycraft for Maecy. Strix not sure cost, but Strix can do itemized bill. Costs reasonable"
Maecy frowns a bit, "My budget is a little light right now... I wasn't expecting to be here this long, and definitely wasn't expecting to have to buy a full set of tools. But... I'll figure it out. I can get money from May? Or uh... I know Lthl said I can sell some of the silk if necessary but... I could... get a job? Er, point is! I'll find a way to pay you!"
Strix: "Oh. Don't worry. Strix can do payment plan. Pay later?"
Maecy lets out a breath, "If that's okay? Sorry. This is... this is big for me."
Strix: "Strix happy to make shinies!" He nods a few times "Also, Strix friend of May. Don't want to make Maysis sad"
Maecy giggles, "Well I won't mind a bit of preferential treatment on account of my sis. Thank you, Strix. I... I'm going to have to figure out how to pierce the fabric too. Who'd have thought spidersilk would be so difficult to work with?"
Strix: "Well, spiders very big and scary...Strix not that surpirsed"
Maecy nods, "That's... well, mostly true as well, I suppose." She glances at the various things across Strix's table. "So do I come back here some time soon? How long do you want to work on it? I'm pretty familiar with doing custom work for clients, I don't want to stress you out."
Strix: "Strix has plans! Come back soon, and Strix will have first version ready to test" There's a pause "Strix happy to help, will work super fast!"
Maecy gives Strix a familiar thumbs up, "Alright then! Thank you so much for this! I'll be back!"
Strix gives a thumbs up too! "Strix will do gooood job!"
