RESPITE FALLS - LOUMAY'S HOUSE - AFTERNOON
----------------------------------------------
Maybelline has walked back home on her lunch hour to make herself a sandwich, spending some time prepping things before making the meal, she's now sitting at the kitchen table eating, looking over one of the small work manuals she acquired on the trip to Sarn and reads 'for fun', more or less.
Vix knocks on the door to the house, carrying a conspicuous pack....
Maybelline takes a moment to put down her meal, humming to herself as she answers the door. "Hello? Oh! Vix! What's up? What've you got there?"
Vix blinks when May comes to the door. "Oh! Uh...you're back? Welcome back!"
Maybelline nods, "Oh, yeah! We got back not too long ago. I guess we were gone for awhile though."
Vix takes a deep breath and bows in apology. "Sorry I broke into your house and let time travel Xochi stay here!"
Maybelline blinks, letting that sink in a moment. "You're... forgiven? I mean, I knew about the break in thing, but she is Louma's friend, and I'm guessing she's your friend too, and regardless, she needs help. Louma said you did the right thing. As for the... time... travel, uh, that I've got nothing on."
Vix straightens up and smiles again. "Oh, well in that case I brought snacks for everyone!"
Maybelline perks up as well, "Oh! Well snacks are always welcome! Come on in!" She opens the door and welcomes Vix inside, leading her to the kitchen. "It's kinda weird? 'Xochi' speaks pretty highly of herself, kinda reminds me of stuffy-Sarn folks? But she's been really helpful with dishes and chores and such, trying to say 'thanks' and not impose, I guess."
Vix chuckles as she follows May inside. "Yeah, I never thought meeting an actual royal would be so weird. I did ask her to keep the place clean for when you got back though."
Maybelline giggles, "Ah, well she did well enough. I don't really get the whole royal thing either... I don't know what kind of trouble she's in, and I've tried to respect her privacy about it all. Louma asked her to keep quiet about whatever it is, and even though she also told her to trust me, I didn't want to pry."
Vix unpacks her pack onto the table, revealing an assortment of cookies, bread, meat buns, and fruit tarts. "I think she'll be fine as long as she has a place to stay."
Maybelline nods, glancing at the snacks hungrily. She resists, and helps take things from Vix to store aside for now. "Well, she's got that here. I mean, hopefully not for too long, but as long as she needs, Louma and I talked it out a bit. So you knew her already?"
Vix nods. "I met Xochi at the bar a couple times. Uh, old-Xochi. I had no idea she was a princess!"
Maybelline shrugs, "I don't know if just having wings makes you a Princess... but I don't know much about Orela. Louma explained some of the stuff about Coatl too me, and it seems kind of a mess. So, this is 'new-Xochi', then? ...what makes her new?"
Vix hums. "Maybe more like young-Xochi? But that would make this the old her, not old-her."
Maybelline tilts her head, "So like... her daughter? Grand-daughter?" She frowns a bit, "Or wait, this is a magic thing isn't it?"
Vix shrugs. "Look, my working theory is a time warp. Which means we have to make sure she never meets present-day Xochi!"
Maybelline sets down the plate of meat buns and takes a breath. "Sometimes I wish I knew anything about magic, and other times it just seems like... so much. Okay, so that's what you meant by time travel. Have... you let present-day Xochi know about this? You've warned her about it?"
Vix: I couldn't find her! I wonder where she went...
Maybelline ponders, "Could... something have already happened to her? If they already met and it... um... I have no idea what your hypothesis is based on, honestly."
Vix: Well...there's a popular story where that situation ends reality, so since reality is still here...I think we're good?
Maybelline pokes herself with a hand, "Reality. Intact. Check. Are... you basing this time-travel idea on a popular story?"
Vix glances to the side. "Uh...m-maybe..."
Maybelline hms, rubbing her forehead slightly. "Okay. Well. We'll still keep that under 'working hypothesis'. I don't know many folks in Respite with a solid magical understanding other than Elizabeth or maybe Teis. Maybe I can get an opinion on this whole thing from one of them?"
Vix nibbles on a meat bun. "Oh, for sure. I'm no expert, obviously."
Maybelline takes a cookie, glancing at the remnants of her sandwich and thinking something about ruining her appetite. She shrugs and bites into the cookie. "Me either... not with magic." She sighs. "I do appreciate this, Vix. The snacks of course, but also your thoughts on this whole thing with Xochi. How about you, hm? Haven't seen you in awhile. You doing alright? Need help with anything... um, power related?"
Vix hums. "I'm doin' alright. Just trying to figure out this new arrangement with Nesseth and Plume and Erika and Mirriam and...yeah I think that's everyone..."
Maybelline blinks. "You and Nesseth and Plume, sure... and Erika and Mirriam? Who's Mirriam?"
Vix: Oh! She's one of Nesseth's old friends. She's got the hots for him, naturally.
Maybelline finishes eating her cookie. "Huh. I feel like I'm lucky I found Louma when I did, or she'd be with Nesseth too..."
Vix chuckles. "I mean...maybe? He is very popular~"
Maybelline: "He's a nice guy and all... but eh... I just don't get it. Though, I've never really cared about anything he's got to offer..."
Vix hums. "He's got a big heart...and smooth scales~"
Maybelline nods, "Well, sure, and those are both great. Believe me, I never expected to enjoy the feeling of scales as much as I do. I just meant more um..." She motions downwards slightly lewdly.
Vix giggles. "Oh! Of course~"
Maybelline grins, "Yeah, that doesn't really interest me at all."
Vix chuckles. "Well, I've also gotten to mess around with Erika a couple times~"
Maybelline laughs, "Fair enough. Hope that's all fun for the... five of you? Honestly I don't know how I'd keep up."
Vix: I kinda just go with the flow, really...
Maybelline grins, "Really all you can do I guess. I'm glad you're happy with it all, as chaotic as it sounds."
Vix continues gossiping with May over snacks as they go a little bit past her lunch hour~

THE THIRSTY MINNOW - EVENING
----------------------------------------------
Mirriam has stopped by the Minnow a few times recently out of laziness, not always up for cooking and not wanting to interrupt Nesseth when he's with others to bug him to cook for her. Frankly her own recipes leave a lot to be desired, so here she sits, poking away at a salad and a plate of steamed vegetables. She smiles at anyone that passes her table, clearly open to engage with anyone that wants to talk.
Jennica walks into the Minnow, not really looking for anything besides a small drink to calm her nerves after a bustling market day... for some reason a lot of the Saurs that have come to the market lately were interested in her new tail in ways that made the cow fairly uncomfortable. She gives Mirriam a small smile as she notices the roo.
Mirriam waves happily to Jennica after a brief moment to recognize her, patting the table in invitation. "Evenin' vren! How's ya day gone?"
Jennica smiles as she gets her drink and then finds her way to Mirriam's table: "O-oh. Just fine, just busy I guess? Very busy, really."
Mirriam chuckles, nodding. "Oh yea, I saw a lot of those new folks hangin' around the market. A few of em musta been really new the way they were kinda just wnaderin' around in awe, pokin' things, pickin' stuff up without payin'. Some'a the merchies were real nervous 'bout the sheer number, but I think most'a them get the basics by now."
Jennica nods as she sits down, smiling nervously: "Y-yeah, we had our hands full just... keeping up." She glances at her stubby scaly tail and blushes: "A-and they liked to... well some of them anyway... wanted to like get close... too close?"
Mirriam tilts her head, looking to where Jennica is and then laughing quietly after a moment. "Oh! They were bein' a bit weird 'bout your tail ay? What like, askin' if you're part saur or whatever?"
Jennica blushes brighter, then nods: "S-something like that. A-and uh... t-things I don' wanna repeat." She takes a deep gulp of her drink so as to emphasize her point.
Mirriam pauses, narrowing her eyes a bit. "What's that then? Didn't think they were so crude, 'specially in light of the reason they're even livin' among the town."
Jennica shrugs and blushes and kind of shrinks to herself: "...I d-dunno. Just... you know, wish someone would tell them..."
Mirriam grunts, nodding. "I will, if'm there when they do such crass shit. Sorry ya had to deal with'm alone today, vren. I'll make sure Nesseth knows."
Jennica sighs but gives Mirriam a smile: "Y-yeah, thank you. It's just... s-social side has never been my thing, you know?"
Mirriam hums, giving Jennica a reassuring smile. "S'ok, that's what makin' friends is for after all, ay? Help when ya need it with anythin' ya can't handle alone."
Jennica smiles and nods and is clearly the paragon of confidence right now: "Y-yeah... n-never been all that good with friends really." She pauses, humming: "T-though I guess I can c-call you a friend?"
Mirriam laughs, grinning at Jennica. "Well of course, vren! Be glad ta call ya mine, as well. Just don't go around accusin' me of bein' promiscuous cause of it, kay?" The roo winks at Jennica, giggling a bit.
Jennica blinks and blushes and blushes some more: "I c-couldn't! Wouldn't! That's um... unless you are, right?"
Mirriam blushes like last time, shaking her head. "N-no! I told ya, I'm with Nesseth and that's all! I mean yea, I love... Y'know, sexin''m up and all, but it aint promiscuity if it's not more'n that! I mean, sometimes he invites whoever else ta join us... But that doesn't count ...I think?"
Jennica blushes bright at the description: "I uh er... I d-don't know. I'm just with, uh, Emmeline..." She trails off, multiple lewd images blocking her train of thought for the moment.
Mirriam clears her throat, nodding as she lets her blush subside. "Sorry, heh. Sometimes I overshare a bit. So yer with that other bovine lady, then? That's great!"
Jennica blinks a couple of times, then nods with a smile: "Y-yeah, we've been like... f-friends since we were kids and moved here to be kinda more except we took a moment to realize we both thought it was like that?"
Mirriam sighs wistfully, smiling at Jennica. "Aww, that's sweet as all heck. I do hope you two're together for a long time~"
Jennica smiles warmly: "I do hope so too... I c-couldn't survive without Emmeline. Well, I did, and I hated it." She frowns, looks aside and mutters something unmentionable about Saurs.
Mirriam pats Jennica's shoulder kindly, nodding. "I'd heard 'bout that. She was on the last caravan 'fore mine got held up. I'm sorry you two had ta go through that, but 'least she came back in most'a one piece, yeah?"
Jennica nods slowly: "Yeah... she did. Scarred, hurt, but alive. Wasn't sure how to deal with that, and I was... tiny, too, then." She glances at her tail and frowns.
Mirriam hums, giggling quietly. "That must have been a bit of a surprise for her, ay?"
Jennica giggles nervously: "Y-yeah it was... still me, but like... half the height and all scales." She pauses, humming: "She took it well, though."
Mirriam grins. "Other than the tail, ya seem to have both recovered well."
Jennica shrugs: "Yeah... I'm fine I guess. It was weird, but... yeah."
Mirriam munches on a bit of her food, thinking for a bit. "So how'd ya end up takin' such a weird shape, anyway?"
Jennica blinks, then looks aside: "A f-friend made a potion... was meant to be a healthiness potion, but he measured it on himself and he's a kobold... made me healthy, but small and scaly."
Mirriam hums, shaking her head a bit. "Suppose it makes sense... In a sideways kinda way. Lessons learned, I guess? Didn' know there's a kobold alchemist in Respite, though."
Jennica giggles softly: "He's... he's okay. You'll find him if you need to."
Mirriam nods, giggling with Jennica. The two continue chatting amicably into the evening in discussion of kobolds and other market vendors of interest, and Mirriam even manages to not flash anyone at the tavern on that night! Overall a good evening for the two of them.
