SARN - LYNPOOL - LATE AFTERNOON

----------------------------------------------

Maybelline walks alongside Louma down the wooden walkway that stretches down the beach and out towards a lighthouse the southern tip of the town. Having disembarked from 'The Ineluctable Wave' that afternoon, the couple had found their way into the charming town to get lodgings at an inn with a view of the sea. From there, they'd gone out to explore the sleepy town. Unlike Policaster's busy wharfs, Lynpool is a cozy (if not exactly 'small', it's easily much larger than Bairnell's Foothold) town that reflects the 'best' of Sarn. That all said, May does find herself looking up at Louma more than out at the town or the ocean anyways.

Louma slithers contentedly with May, wrapped in a dark red woolen scarf, long enough to rather modestly cover her from the shoulders to a couple feet past where her scale transition is, mostly to catch as much extra heat from the sun as she can in the cooler port weather. She is smiling easily, particularly any time she glances away from the sights towards Maybelline. "I always did wish to travel more, but I'm certainly not against the circumstances of finally finding myself on Sarn's shores."

Maybelline hums happily, wearing a comparitively light dress she brought on the trip, a pale purple sundress that matches her eyes, without much frills to it. "I'd never even given it much thought, to be honest. I figured I'd get a job in one of the big cities and... I dunno. For all my 'life plans' I didn't actually think to far ahead."

Louma grins, looking down to May as she also memorizes where the shop is, for a surprise idea. "Indeed. I would be very disappointed if you'd left before we stumbled into this wonderful accident. I wouldn't know why, but I'm sure, if it's been so wonderful, I would have known an opportunity had been missed."

Maybelline turns back to Louma and grins, "Accident, opportunity, or whatever it was that brought us together, I'm all the happier for it. Without you... I'd be a lonely stoat." She manages to chuckle, "Also, pretty insufferable. You didn't meet me before the generator accident."

Louma hums, rubbing her chin for a moment. "You're right, I wasn't even in town when that happened. It was quite a surprise to learn that the previously unoccupied generator had exploded under the new caretaker's watch. It was also quite the introduction to Brunilda. You could never be blamed for it though, it was neglected so much before then."

Maybelline makes a tiny noise of frustration, "Ugh, tell me about. With the parts issues and the ad-hoc repairs and without Brun, I definitely wouldn't be here." She blinks, "But uh, that's just me getting distracted. Though, I guess I still kinda wonder what happened to the previous engineer."

Louma shakes her head slightly, glancing toward the patio of a small cafe... Even though it's two tables larger than the largest in Respite. "I haven't really looked into it, the other captains were investigating. We can ask, if we remember, when we get back."

Maybelline hums, "Maybe... it might be worth knowing? I mean, it's not like there's anything left of their generator now. But the infrastructure under Respite is mostly theirs..." She is lost in thought a moment, then shakes her head and pokes Louma's side. "But that's work talk. We can deal with that later. When we're not on vacation."

Louma giggles, wriggling at the poke. "You're right, of course. So have you been to this port before? Anything we should definitely be visiting while we're here?"

Maybelline points down the boardwalk towards the lighthouse, "Well, there's an ice cream shop built into the lighthouse. That's... maybe where I was walking us. We came down to Lynpool a couple times when I was little. We couldn't really afford it, but my Uncle had a place here he'd loan us for a week, and we'd get to stay and play in the ocean."

Louma grins, lightly bumping May's hip with her slithering tail. "Did you bring me all the way to Sarn just for ice cream? Because Sweets, I would follow you to any ice cream shop in the world you wanted to visit."

Maybelline wiggles at the tail bump, giggling, then steps closer to lean her head against Louma's side as she walks. "I remember it being really good ice cream! But there's also the fudge. Glaushire has some amazing fudge. But that's not the Only reason I brought you to Sarn and you know it."

Louma sets her hand on May's shoulder as they travel, noticing a few looks their way but shrugging them off. She alters her slithering just enough to not be shaking May's head about. She giggles, nodding. "I know, love. And you know I'm excited to meet your family. But don't worry, there is plenty of room in my suitcase to bring a dozen pounds of fudge back to Respite with us."

Maybelline giggles, "Oh? Room in my bag too." She doesn't seem to notice the stares, or more accurately she just doesn't care. "It all tastes the sweeter for sharing it with you. My parents will love you, I'm sure. My sister's a bit of a brat, but you can just ignore her. She's immature for her age."

Louma grins, looking down to May. "I suppose I can't wait to meet her, too. The way you've told me about her, the difference between twin stoats can be night and day. Certainly something worth observing."

Maybelline sticks her tongue out at Louma. "Trust me, you lucked out. I got the looks and the smarts out of the whole twin deal."

Louma hums giving May a wink. "I don't know, you might be a biased source here. What about the scientific method?" She giggles, hugging May to her side for a few moments.

Maybelline giggles, snuggling against Louma during the hug. She crosses her arms once Louma lets her go, "Hmmmm. Scientific method, hm? Okay, but observation only! No kissing! Maybe a hug if she asks. But it must be very chaste."

Louma blinks, giving a faux surprised look. "But-but science!" She sighs, putting extra disappointment into the gesture. "Fine, but since you're twins, i suppose kissing you twice as much would bring us to the same results, hmm? Or do you disagree with that method?"

Maybelline hums, giving it obviously very serious consideration. "Well. If it's for science, I think that's a fair compromise."

Louma bends down to May, brushing her fingers under her chin to direct her into a loving kiss.

Maybelline follow's Louma's guidance to meet the kiss, breaking it off just a moment to soon, grinning, "That's one..."

Louma nods once, doubling down for the second kiss, her beak darkening as she blushes. "Mmm and that's two~. I don't know though, might need more data over time, right?"

Maybelline blushes in turn, doing her best to match Louma's passion in the second kiss. "Mmm... Y-yeah. Well. Any good experiment... requires repitition."

Louma grins at May, straightening up to continue on their intended path. "Mmh, well there will be plenty of time for that while we're here, and perhaps a few more experiments~ All doubled for accuracy, of course." She looks toward the lighthouse as it starts coming into full view.

Maybelline: "A worthy lifetime of study, in my opinion." She glances out over the ocean, to the lighthouse as they reach the end of the boardwalk, and then back to Louma. "Love you, Scoops. Love you lots."

Louma sighs, May's words bringing a familiar flash of warmth through her as she looks down to May. "I love you too, Sweets. More than I could ever say, but I'll try my best to get close."

Maybelline reaches up to take Louma's hand in hers (as much as her much smaller hand is able). "You make my heart soar, even when we're on the ground."

Louma giggles, squeezing May's hand gently. "I'm glad we got you used to flying before reaching this point, then, might have been too much soaring." She continues holding May's hand as they seek out the mythical ice cream shop.

Maybelline leads Louma up to the window where they can place their orders, to enjoy the time, the place, the ice cream, and one another as the sun sets into the ocean.
