BAIRNELL'S FOOTHOLD - LATE AFTERNOON
----------------------------------------------
Louma has been silently excited, or excitedly silent... Something in the middle of those two or both at once for the last half hour of their flight. Bairnell has peeked into view a couple times during their flight, Louma gliding for most of the airborne distance between Respite Falls and the port town. A trip that takes days by the winding trail is nothing in a straight, nearly effortless line. Other than herself and her love, Louma is toting both sets of luggage in a large duffel style pack strapped to her tail. Admittedly, she's only packed a pair of uniforms for warmth on the ocean, and a few less covering sets of Orelan style dresswear of her own, along with a few other trinkets. She hasn't learned nothing of course, of flying more or less solo over Aephix, her shiny new spear also slung between her wings on a magitech magnetic sheathe. Wonder who designed such a thing for her? She points at Bairnell, glancing toward May as the gatehouse comes into clear view.
Maybelline is snug in the flying sling, watching the landscape fly by beneath them in the same awe as always. She'd not packed much either, leaving her work clothes in the dresser and only bringing a few newer, more casual outfits... okay she also brought her tool set, the good ones, perhaps her most prized possession, other then a recent newly acquired necklace that she's wearing around her neck. She's been just as excited, letting out a random giggle every so often on the flight when she looks up away from the stunning landscape towards her Louma, watching her as she flies. She lets out a little sigh as the start circling towards the ground, calling out "I'd say I'm sad to be heading down, but we're just getting started."
Louma chuckles quietly, taking the minor risk of distraction to bend and kiss Maybelline during their descent, blushing a bit. Some of that blush is general exhaustion, exemplified by the guard after she makes a fairly gentle touchdown outside the gate, far enough to not be dropping right in front of the guards, not that they hadn't spotted the two of them well beforehand. She pauses after landing, her body giving a quiver that May might feel in the sling as she stretches , a few downy feathers drifting off of her wings. "Mmg!~ Just started indeed! I hope that shortcut was to your liking, sweets."
Maybelline grins at the kiss, bracing herself as Louma lands. "Much better than some stuffy caravan wagon, Scoops~. Just hope you didn't overdo it. I know you've taken flights like this before but, not with this much... well. Me."
Louma giggles, stretching her wings a bit more before folding them in. "Oh, probably not too much, but thank you for worrying. And you are always the perfect amount of you, that is something you'll never have to fret over." She nuzzles Maybelline, slithering toward the gatehouse. Bairnell's walls, considering they don't need a full circle and were built a few decades before Respite's, clearly show their age and the extra effort to build them up. Louma turns to their pack, fetching a bundle of papers. Sighing dramatically, she gives May a look. "It never ends."
Maybelline takes a moment to find her legs again, pecking Louma's cheek when she leans down to nuzzle against her. She smiles up sympathetically and shrugs, "I might have some bad news about Sarn, in that case... But at least you're not filing any of it afterwards! There will be plenty of time to just sit back and relax without an inkwell in sight~."
Louma grins, as if she can help it any time she's doing anything with May, shaking her head slightly. "I'll take that as a promise, my love~" She straightens up as they reach the guards, not stiffening in demeanor as she would in Respite. They ask a few simple questions; what their business in Bairnell will be, where they're headed at sea, why they avoided travelling with a caravan, how long have they been together, when their planned departure is, when's the wedding, what goods are they taking out of Aephix with them. Standard questions, really.
Maybelline answers the questions directed at her, but otherwise just follows Louma's lead. She displays the writs of passage for the boat to Sarn she arranged, and soon enough they're through the gate into Bairnell. "Well, it's a promise. We'll find somewhere nice and quiet and if anyone brings you anything to sign, they'll have to get through me!" She glances around Bairnell as they head towards the docks, the town having the feel of a fishing village that just kept expanding, with a lot more wood in the construction of the housing than is used in Respite, but there's still a few larger buildings built to more 'modern' styling with stone and brick. The sounds of the ocean are close, filling the town. "...I don't think I took a good look at Bairnell the first time I was here."
Louma chuckles, nodding a little as she likewise looks around. "It's been oh... Two and a half years since I had any reason to visit the Foothold. It's interesting, I've heard that many of the buildings take a lot of inspiration from Sarn for their construction, but with a lot of material substitutes." She giggles, giving May a smile. "Thanks to you I'll get to compare first hand~"
Maybelline grins, "Happy to give you the chance. And even happier to have you alongside me when you take it." She hums, looking around, "I guess it is kinda like the buildings in Policaster. It's a port town too, but uh... its port dwarfs this whole town. Though I've heard Ondonga makes it look even smaller by comparison, but I've never been to Orela. Sarn is pretty, though. The forests and the plains. Hope you don't mind the rain though, but maybe you'll luck out since it's summer. Shouldn't be too hot. A lot cooler than here, anyways."
Louma nods, turning them down a slightly crowded street with a couple bustling inns and a lot of market stalls, though she keeps to the 'traffic' side so they don't get too bustled and bumped. She keeps an eye on May, in case of any wayward pickpockets. "Well, I packed my warmest clothes, as you told me to, Sweets. Of course, Orela is warm all year, and so is most of Aephix... So going to be relying on that Sarn summer weather. Of course, I hope I can depend on you to lend me some body warmth if I get too chilly~"
Maybelline flashes Louma a loving smile, "Of course, scoops~. Every night. All night. For as long as you want me there." She laughs, "It wouldn't be much of a vacation if we went up in the winter. Too much snow to enjoy anything! Except maybe a fireplace and some cocoa together."
Louma gives May a wistful sigh at the declaration, though takes pause on her description of Sarn in winter. "I've... Never seen snow, actually. That might be a trip worth taking, perhaps? For a short visit, anyhow."
Maybelline blinks, turning to look at Louma, "You haven-oh, well... I guess that makes sense. Well... there'll be more chances, more trips, more time together." She gives a wistful sigh of her own, reaching up to take Louma's hand and give it a squeeze. "A whole future together."
Louma squeezes May's hand in turn, smiling warmly at her. She blushes a bit, looking into May's eyes. "I do look forward to spending the rest of my life with you, May. You know that, right? I hope it's not too much pressure, too soon."
Maybelline chuckles, blushing as well, "I know that. I feel the same. It... scares me a little, when I think about it. It makes me a whole lot happier than it does scared though. And the scared goes away when I'm holding your hand, so... it feels right."
Louma blushes, nodding after a moment. "Happy is certainly right. I didn't even know I was unhappy until we started all this, Sweets. I love you, you've filled me with so much that I didn't know was missing, and I will forever be grateful to you for it."
Maybelline frowns for a moment in thought, "I... was. Unhappy I mean. For a lot of reasons. Coming to Respite changed a lot for me. And you've become the best part of it all. I love you too, Louma..." She breaks into a laugh, "Scoops. I'm looking forward to this journey together. And I don't mean the boat ride."
Louma giggles, bending to give May a loving kiss. "As am I, Maybelline."
Maybelline turns upwards to kiss back passionately, right there in the streets of Bairnell's Foothold.
Louma picks up on May's passion, returning it in kind as she lives up to her pet name and scoops May up. "Easier to walk and make out like this, Sweets~"
Maybelline giggles as Louma lifts her up, literally sweeping her off her feet once again. "I guess we do have a boat to catch. Can't just stop in the middle of the street, now can we?"
Louma grins hugging May. "Oh, I forgot about the boat. Yes, let's get to that, first." She starts slithering along, kissing May again. "There will be plenty of time for touching and kissing on the ship, after all~"
Maybelline giggles as Louma kisses her, then she hugs back, "I'm pretty sure we have our own cabin..."
Louma smiles coyly at May, nodding. "I had a feeling you might book one. We'll have to see if we can rock opposite to the waves, keep the ship steady~" She giggles, looking down toward the docks. "Which one was it again, Sweets?"
Maybelline blushes, "Thought we might like the privacy~. It's 'The Ineluctable Wave'."
Louma nuzzles May, giggling. "That is either going to be an appropriately fancy ship, or completely dilapidated. Either way it will be an interesting journey!" The two make it to the docks with plenty of time to spare, finding the ship in question. Louma finds herself suitably impressed. While not one for sea travel in most cases, she admires the moderately sized merchant vessel bearing the name of their ride.
Maybelline swoons in Louma's grip, "The worst that can happen is it crashes on an abandoned island, stranding the two of us alone in a tropical paradise full of sun, surf, and no paperwork." But sadly the truth is that May did her research, and as Louma finds, the boat is one of decent reputation and means, and Maybelline is forced to get back down onto the ground, pulling out the writs of passage for the pair, presenting the paperwork she'd filled out along with the agreed upon payment to the ship's Captain.
Louma watches May go through the motions, smiling to the Captain of the Ineluctable Wave before the two make their way aboard. A short while after the two start exploring the ship, they find their cabin, stowing their goods away. "Hmm, more than enough room for the voyage, I suppose." She pools her tail in the room, resting against two of the walls with a snicker. "At least i wont be sliding around while we try to sleep~"
Maybelline shrugs a little apologetically, "Sorry if it's a little cramped for you. You'll just have to think of it as more 'cozy'?"
Louma sighs, shaking her head slightly. "You're here, it's cozy."
Maybelline climbs up onto Louma's coils and lays across it, gazing up at her. "Flatterer~. But I do agree with you on that part."
Louma giggles, bending over May to kiss her with excited passion. "I think we are going to enjoy this vacation very much, my love~"
Maybelline giggles as well, scooting up against Louma to hug and return the kiss. "I think so too, dear~. Most certainly."

BAIRNELL'S FOOTHOLD - CONCURRENTLY
----------------------------------------------
Maecy steps off her ship, a rather fancy looking yacht. The stoat is dressed in rather fine, fashionable clothes, a sharp looking dress suit with a colorful cravat, carrying a rather hefty looking suitcase behind her. She glances around the docks, making a bit of a face, but shrugging it off after a moment. It's a little homely sure, but it's pleasant enough. Inspiration can come from anywhere, and dismissing places that might seem 'lower class' or 'distasteful' to others isn't her style, especially considering her upbringing. Besides, this continent is her sister's new home! Gotta keep an open mind, especially considering the hard time Maybelline has been having, according to her last letter... ah well, nothing a visit from her sister can't fix!
Maecy leans the suitcase forward onto its little wheels and pulls it behind her, heading in towards town to find herself passage up to Respite Falls...
