BOUQUET MANOR - LATE EVENING
----------------------------------------------
Rondelethia was frowning. She had just gotten the evening post, and was looking at it, stacked up. It was really piling up now. There had been numerous delays due to the ongoing .."issues" and now they were solved, the backlog was clearing. There was bills, royalties, and a letter from her Father, which was leaving to the end, since she wanted to have time to read it slowly, without needing to worry about everything else. "Well, nothing for it.." She launches into the work.
Calgwen has arrived late, having (politely but insistently) demanded the caravan push through the last of the travel instead of stopping for the night before arriving in town. Having heard the stories of this 'dragon' that had attacked the town, and the hardships that Respite had so recently endured, his heart had sunk, and he had needed to arrive in haste! This resulted in the rather late entry through the gate, and a discussion with the guards posted there to learn more of the story whilst they checked his credentials. But at last, he arrived at the Manor, taking only a moment to dust himself off and smooth out the wrinkles gained from travel and haste, he at last introduces himself to the servants at the gate, knowing his presence should be rather expected.
Rondelethia: The servant are..highly confused, but they're all decent enough to be polite, and not just shut down the weird dragonman out of hand, maybe the Lady Rondelethia had just not told them? There's a good solid ten minutes of waiting, as Rondelethia is found, and she stops looking at a requisition order she had been focused on, and instead dives to the letter from her Father, and..wellllll That's..that's something, isn't it? That's an event, that's a thing that's happening. Rondelethia gets into something halfway decent, a rather nice blue dress, before heading out to meet her 'darling new partner'. Sadly, she had planned to enter from the door behind Calgwen, so that she could see him first, but the chairs had all been moved around that day, so instead she entered in full view of him, at the other end of the room....
Calgwen turns his head from where he had been waiting, his own suit is something of a dark brown suit with fancy gold piping, designed to look like it was meant for 'travel', though perhaps not true ranging abroad, the sandy-blonde wings and fur match it rather well. He's lithe, not bulky, but still muscular, and at the sight of Rondelethia he breathes out a great sigh of relief. "Oh thank goodness! After hearing about all this 'war' nonsense, and the sighting of one of the Ancient Dragons over the town, and all this confusion amongst the staff, ah, I'd dreaded the worst, but you are safe! This is a delight, my dearest Rondelethia. But where are my manners! You surely knew of me from your father's letter, but formal introductions are in order!" He bows fluidly and properly before her, wings extending out and bending forward to give the bow an even more majestic scene, "I am Calgwen Ariston Singequill."
Rondelethia could very likely have planned a cool, collected greeting for all this, if she'd had more than five minutes to process this. Instead she just looks at him, at his carefully managed sense of dress (and this is -after- a lot of travel!?), his perfectly measured bow, those wings..that rugged jawline that..She mentally corrects, his uh...um..She gets flustered a moment, so she just responds "Rondelethia Bouquet, a pleasure, ah..um.." There's a decidedly marked pause, before it just sort of comes out "..ThelettergotdelayedandIonlyjustreadit" This is Rondelethia without preperation.
Calgwen slowly rises up as she responds, and his grin fades to a more measured look of concern. "Ah, oh dear. Well, no wonder your staff was out of sorts in this matter." His wings ruffle behind him in a somewhat embarrassed gesture, "Ah, then this all must seem rather presumptuous on my part. Oh my. That was not my intent. I... err... You were... completely unaware of... any of this?"
Rondelethia: "There's been very little post for the last month" She nods, glad that his intensity has dialed down "But..um.." She looks up to him, and gives him a solemn nod "I am, of course, ready to do my duty"
Calgwen: "Ah! Well, of course, of course, though I have no intention to make you rush into anything." His wings folding back into position as he adopts a more neutral, noble pose, though he looks a little crestfallen at the turn of events thus far, "Sight unseen I have been rather smitten with the adventure of coming here, seeing new things and meeting new people, and rather smitten with you. Or at least the way your father described you. But even I must be forced to admit this is as much a business arrangement as anything else."
Rondelethia: "Yes, I..I can see that" Damnit, he seems so forthright! She feels like she just kicked a puppy. She sighs "Look, I have to tell you. This has been..something of a hectic turn of events, but.." She makes steady eye contact, and reaches up to hold his hands in hers "You strike me as a rather noble sort, and..dashing too" She's not above layering in flattery here, even now. "This may be a business arrangement, but..I'd like to at least..do all the courtship rituals first. The conclusion might be foregone, but..I've never really done the dating thing, so perhaps it would be nice to go through the motions?"
Calgwen reinflates a little, his smile creeping back. He dips his head in a respectful gesture as she takes his hands. "I believe that would be most agreeable. I have no desire to force you into anything you don't want. Even in fulfilling your 'duty', if it comes to be nothing but that... I shall respect the boundaries you set."
Rondelethia: "Of course, and uh.." She blushes "I'm sure that..um.." Oh yes, that's one duty "Well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" She coughs "In the meantime. I believe we need to get you settled into the house. I shall arrange things with the servents, you should meet my sister too, and.." She recalls the other part, that he was to help with the 'matters of business' "Oh! If you are helping with the business, then you'll need to see what is going on, and I do have quite the backlog of letters..."
Calgwen chuckles, finally looking away from Rondelethia around the manor, "Oh! Yes! I heard some about your sister, of course! And yes, the business as well! I hope that I shall be able to avail myself to your aid, my dear!" He pauses. "You only just got the letter today? I suppose that means my wardrobe has not yet arrived..." He frowns, but shrugs it off quickly. "No matter. I admit, it has been a very long day, and finally getting to settle down would be most welcome."
Rondelethia: "Now that the roads are clear, all delays should be solved within the next week or so" She gives a gentle smile. She can't help it. He's charismatic "Then, I shall give you the tour?"
Calgwen smiles back before he gives Rondelethia another bow, clearly acknowledging her in the superior position between them. "By your lead, my Lady."
Rondelethia goes to give him 'The Tour'!
