SARN - CHESTERNACH PORT - EARLY AFTERNOON
----------------------------------------------
Calgwen Ariston Singequill stands tall, wearing a rather ornate looking Maritime uniform of some kind, although any sign of rank or service is quite absent from the very ornamental and fancy attire. His feathery wings are folded against his back, the blonde plumage matching his braided hair and the tufts of fur that runs down his tail as it winds down upon the pier. He watches the last stages of preparation on the ship that shall whisk him away to Aephix, and to his newly minted destiny. All his affects have already been sent ahead, after all, but he needed to remain behind to finish all the proper paperwork and agreements, but he has been quite assured of the absolute 'correctness' of this endeavor.
Luella in contrast, hadn't packed, indeed, she looked like she had rolled out of bed, and put on whatever was nearby, and it was only mostly clothing by sheer chance. She tilts her head curiously at all the packing, her wings flicking idly behind her. "Are you sure you need to go?" She pouts, ever so gently "Couldn't you just order in? That's what I do..you have to pay extra...but then they'll take what you want riiight to the door. It's super nice. You don't even need to put on shoes" Luella was not wearing shoes
Calgwen laughs kindly, "My dear Luella, this is not as simple a matter as ordering food! Matters of the heart are always best done in person! I could hardly ask Her to drop everything and come to Me. And yes, I know, it's not even all that likely that she will care. But beyond even that, what I want... ah, it still isn't something that could be brought to the door. I know that I have only just woken up, but word of a new continent is so exciting, don't you think?"
Luella: "Wouldn't it be romantic though? To be called over, to meet your hearts desire..." She sighs wistfully "Perhaps, you're right, but it all sounds like so much effort. If I went out to adventure, how would I even be sure that I could find somewhere nice to sleep at night? Haven't you seen what they sleep on ships Cal? Hammocks! They sleep on Hammocks!" The horrors! "You could hardly fit..five, or six little friends in there!" Luella had a veritable mountain of soft animal shaped cushions, and the like in her room, and her bed was technically a normal bed, but at this point was as much a pile she buried herself into to sleep in each night "...So many lonely hearts..."
Calgwen sighs, glancing at Luella with a bit of sympathy for her plight, "I know, yes. I would not ask you to part from your friends like that. I am honored that you brought one such friend to accompany me." He reaches down towards a pocket of his outfit, patting the head of a small blue mouse-like plush peeking out. "I have slept in worse, and shall brave whatever conditions I find. With his love and support, of course."
Luella: "She's always been the adventurous sort! I'll miss her, but you can't let hold back your friends from following their own hearts!" Luella has always acted as if all her 'soft friends' were fully sentient beings, and it's never clear how much she actually believes it "You're so much braver than I am, perhaps I can take this as inspiration, to follow along" She looks at the ship, and shudders "..If I find a ship that has better ways to sleep..." She hasn't even checked. She saw a hammock on a ship once, and now assumes that's all that's there
Calgwen bows his head, "She will be safe with me. Or, I'll be safe with her." He grins, having always been more than happy to indulge Luella's beliefs, and her dear friends are his dear friends. "And we shall both write to you to share what we see and who we meet in our new home. Perhaps I can even persuade my newfound partner to write an introduction as well, once I meet her?"
Luella: "Oh, please do Calgwen!" She nods quickly "I want all the details of the whirlwind romance!" She claps her hands together "And then I can become the best of long distant friends with your new lady" She sighs "Oh...I will need to come to the wedding, won't I?" She puts on her serious face "I will steel my soul, and ..even if I must sleep in a hammock...I shall be there!"
Luella: "...But it has to be a really nice hammock"
Luella: "I have my limits you know"
Calgwen chuckles, blushing just a bit at the thought of his bride-to-be, "I shall hope you are both fast friends! And when the wedding comes, I will do my best to make sure you have the best hammock in town, if no bed can be found. You have my word, my dear, and you know I always keep my word."
Luella: "That you do! And I shall ask all my soft friends, for one that wishes to be the stalwart guard of your new union!" She nods again, firmly "Chulaine is an adventurer, but she is not one that could do such valiant defences that would need to protect one as precious as your bride" She sighs "Oh, it's just so romantic..."
Calgwen breathes out a wistful sigh. "I find it to be as well, Luella. I only hope she does too." He hums, "Ah, Lady Rondelethia. Her father sent word ahead of me, and I am sure she is awaiting me with unease, but I will do my best to be worthy for her when I arrive."
Luella: "Oh, I'm sure that she's just waiting with baited breath for such a dashing dragon like you to sweep her off her feet, you included a picture, yes? If you did, then I'm totally sure that you'll be greeted at the gates!" She sighs again "Oh, to find such a matching soul for me...Elzer is a darling..but we're just too different, I break his heart so many times" 'Elzer' is a small plush dinosaur.
Calgwen chuckles, "I did, yes, as well as my assurances that I am not coming to 'take over' her household. And yeah, you are quite striking yourself, Luella. If Elzer were wise he would have already asked your hand, but someday you shall find the one who sings to your soul."
Luella: "Perhaps, I should go, and look around the city..but it's so big, and scary..It's not like how I remember it" She sighs gently, and leans her head on Calgwen's shoulder "We missed so much..do..do you think if we'd not fallen asleep..we could have made it better?"
Calgwen 's smile fades just slightly as Luella leans against him, his gaze turning back towards the city. "The new magics, these generators, all the new hustle and bustle. Who can say? I always think we go to sleep for a reason, and we must wake up for a reason too."
Luella: "Yeah..." She looks to the city "I..I suppose I need to leave my room a bit more, I.." She bites her lip gently "I've been a bit scared to leave, it's all so different.." She shakes her head, and focuses, before putting her smile back up "But that just means I'm gonna charm them up again! I've gotta keep the honour of the dragons of Sarn growing in your absence!" Smile, and the world smiles with you, and you don't want to see any frowns, especially when you're sad yourself. So...Smile. She turns to Calgwen, and does an extra flowery salute "I won't let you down Commander!"
Calgwen 's smile returns with Luella's, his own attitude always a bit harder to get down, "I know you an do it, my Dear. You're quite strong, and you have so many good friends to support you! Including me. Especially me. And Chulaine here too, of course."
Luella: "Yes!" She nods again "I'll do my best!"
Calgwen moves forward to give Luella a hug with his wings as the boat's horn sounds, signalling it is time to board, "I know you shall. Tell Elzer and Madlin and Belford and -oh, just tell them all I give my best! I shall write my first letter to you upon my arrival!"
