RESPITE TRAINING GROUNDS - AFTERNOON

----------------------------------------------

Brunilda sits down rather heavily on one of the rocks at the edge of the grounds, wiping sweat from her brow as she does before giving her partner a smile: "That was some quality workout again, Fiora. You're good."

Fiora smirks, striding over to sit alongside Brun, "I'm the best~. But you're good too, Brun. Takes a good sparring partner to let me really stretch my muscles like this."

Brunilda winks, lifting her hand onto Fiora's shoulder: "Well, it wouldn't be fair of me go easy on you."

Fiora lets out a big laugh, "Nope! I wouldn't want you to anyways. I'm a big girl, I can take a punch."

Brunilda laughs as well: "I may not be a lot, but 'big girl' I think I qualify for."

Fiora gives Brun a light tap to the side before giggling to lean against her. "Big enough to take me on, and I'm grateful for that."

Brunilda smiles with just the tiniest of blushes as Fiora leans close on her: "I'm glad you like what you have gotten, even if it's just me."

Fiora snorts. "'Just'. You're too modest with that crap." She sighs. "I guess craps all starting to settle down again... ugh, I guess it'll be time to start looking again."

Brunilda glances at Fiora: "Too modest... don't know, never felt like I am anything." She shakes her head slightly, her ear lightly flapping against Fiora's neck as she does. "...looking for what?"

Fiora snorts again, giving Brun a fierce look, but lets it drop for now. "...oh... um, home? You know, can't just live out of the Minnow forever... I've got the money for now, but it's starting to bleed thin. Will probably get a cut of whatever Gareth brings back from Sarn, so that might buy me some more time."

Brunilda blinks: "O-oh. Right. Never really thought about that, been a Guard... just living off of my job. It's not much, but... well, it's a bed and a roof, really." She pauses, thinking for a second before shaking her head: "...it's not much."

Fiora shrugs. "I'm not looking for much more than that. It's not like I own a boatload of crap to put there, and I've slept in worse places than... anywhere with a bed. But if I'm gonna make Respite my home, then I need someplace, else I'm gonna need to get my tent back from Enver."

Brunilda looks at Fiora: "Get your tent back...?" She pauses, then shakes her head again: "Nevermind. But..." She hesitates: "...w-well, my place is too small for two, but maybe we can find something... t-together? Or is that a completely insane thought?"

Fiora chuckles at the thought. "Heh... well... I mean..." She pauses to think about it a bit longer, then sits up a bit and crosses her arms. "I mean... I guess I don't see why not?"

Brunilda nods slowly: "I mean, it's... well, guess it is kinda quick, but we could do it?"

Fiora laughs, "I guess so? Which one of us moves out when we drive each other crazy though?" She grins at Brun.

Brunilda blinks and looks at Fiora: "I mean, uh... oh." She finds her grin a bit hesitantly: "...g-guess if we haven't done that so far..."

Fiora laughs, "...that we won't? I mean, hell if I know, but... I'm willing to give it a shot."

Brunilda smiles some more as she offers her hand to Fiora: "I mean, hell, what's the worst that can happen?"

Fiora shrugs before grasping Brun's hand. "Knowing how things go when we have a real disagreement, a broken rib or two. But nothing we can't work past."

Brunilda grasps Fiora's hand strongly, giving her a confident smile: "If we can work past that, we can work past anything. We're too stubborn not to."

Fiora tightens her grip back, "Damn straight we are. I don't like this, I love it!"

Brunilda grins again, giving Fiora's hand a strong shake before letting go and looking towards the town proper: "That said... I have no idea how to go about finding that place to share..."

Fiora follows her gaze towards town, "Well, I mean... I'd been looking at a few places, though I'd only accounted for one occupant. So I guess now we just go looking together until we find something we both like."

Brunilda hums, musing on this as she cracks her neck slightly: "Gotta be place big enough for us... Respite does have a lot of space, but most folks are smaller than us."

Fiora nods as something else slowly dawns on her, "Uh... so... two bedrooms?" She waits a moment before adding, "Or uh, one?"

Brunilda blinks, blushing as she realizes this thought: "Um... oh wow, this really is fast. But..." She looks at Fiora, giving a weak smile: "I-I'll have my own room if you want me to." It's not even remotely subtle what the elephant would prefer here.

Fiora reaches over to take Brun's hand again, more gently this time and less competitive. "Hey... I mean, we don't have to do it at all... but one bedroom would be easier to find for folks our size. I just don't want to... you know... make you think..." She bites her tongue a bit, hissing. "Ugh. Why is this always so hard to talk about?"

Brunilda looks at Fiora, then gives a nervous chuckle: "B-beats me. And I know that uh... that..." She hesitates again before adding: "...we can sleep together without actually, you know, 'sleeping together', right?"

Fiora nods, giving Brun an apologetic smile. "We can. And... I'd like that."

Brunilda takes Fiora's hand in hers once more, gripping tightly: "We can... figure all this together." She gives a soft laugh: "I have no idea how to go about having a house or anything, but it's a learning process then?"

Fiora nods, grinning quickly. "A challenge! And uh, not a terrifying prospect at all!"

Brunilda grins: "Not terrifying at all!" Her smile wanes to a merely amused one: "Oh who are we kidding, this is scarier than anything out there isn't it. Worth doing, probably, but scary as heck."

Fiora laughs nervously, "Oh, absolutely. But fear is good. Gets the adrenaline going. You show me a fighter who isn't afraid before a fight and I'll show you a liar."

Brunilda smiles, shaking her head: "Ain't that the truth. Guess we'll just have to find out how to tackle this all, the hard way."

Fiora laughs, "And no leaping through the window for me or uh, I doubt they'd let us move in."

Brunilda leans back slightly, gesturing at herself: "Do I really look like the type who even could leap through a window, Fiora?"

Fiora shrugs, gesturing back at herself, "I do it in full armor. I recommend it. Everyone covers their faces and drop their weapons when there's glass raining down on them. And it looks freakin' awesome."

Brunilda laughs, shaking her head slightly: "Maybe. Somehow I can't really see myself doing it, but I'll take your word for it."

Fiora: "The point is; none of that with any house we get together. I promise." She holds up a hand as if to make an oath.

Brunilda chuckles: "Fair enough. Let's keep breaking our own stuff to a minimum."

Fiora lowers her hand back down and nods, "Agreed. Uh... so... when do you want to start looking?"

Brunilda shrugs: "I'm tired after that, but it's not like I got anything planned right now. You?"

Fiora shakes her head, "Nope. This was most of my excercise for the day, and I'm uh, basically unemployed since Cavro's forge is still off limits I guess. I mean, I guess I could check out the other forge to the north of town, but... meh."

Brunilda looks at Fiora with a smile: "No harm or commitment in looking anyway, right?" She gets up and offers her hand to the giraffe.

Fiora takes Brun's hand and stands up. "Nah, probably not. I mean... no way I'm joining the guard, uh, no offense."

Brunilda chuckles softly: "Fair enough. That life is not for everyone and half the time I wonder if it's for me either, but it pays."

Fiora nods, "Well, it does do that, I suppose. Does the techie-gig you got pay too? I'd bet that pays way better."

Brunilda shrugs: "It pays, but just for an apprentice's worth... not much. Just doing basic maintenance while study, anyway."

Fiora thinks, "So uh, when you get promoted? Or is that just not a thing? I could talk to the weasel that works there for ya if you want."

Brunilda blinks: "Oh, you mean May... nah. There's no promotion in there for me, only ever need one generator tech in town. I'm just there to learn."

Fiora nods understandingly, though she doesn't really get it. "Well, if you enjoy it that's the important thing."

Brunilda smiles, nodding as she lets go of Fiora's hand and starts walking towards the town center: "I do. Come on, let's see if we can find anything worth us."

Fiora grins, "Heh. Or find something we're worthy of? Or... something. Yeah!"

Brunilda laughs as she leads the way: "Something like that. I don't know, but I'm eager to find out now."

Fiora jogs up to walk alongside Brun. "Yeah, honestly? Me too."
