RESPITE MARKETPLACE - NOON

----------------------------------------------

Tarbin is wandering the city again, though this time he's opted to avoid the South end entirely while Melia is more present. He'd taken note of the progress the town guard had made in cleaning up the excess growth. While he completely understands that not all growth is wanted or needed in the city, he's not sure Melia would take it as well. Maybe. Instead he's enjoying the sights, wandering to familiar places that seem completely new. After peeking into the Minnow, the 'pair' have started wandering the marketplace, the Yurettan lizard now looking over a stall of roasted vegetable skewers and vaguely wishing he had some coin. More problems to solve in the near future.

Melia is in a good mood, enjoying the sights, sounds and feelings as Tarbin does: [You know, or I guess you really do know, but I never saw that much of Respite...]

Rhask is currently working one of the nearby stalls in the marketplace, sharing the space with Emmeline, who is currently taking a short break. She's been settling in nicely with the routine that's been established, and she does her best to keep her side of the stall neat and orderly, while still displaying her wares and designs. She smiles mostly to herself as she sort of rhythmically sways back and forth slightly in her seat, keeping time to a tune in her head as she watches people going about their day.

Tarbin hums, nodding his head in response to Melia as he tears himself away from the delicious smelling roasting stall to continue their exploration. He keeps his voice low when he responds to her, clearly aware that nobody else can hear her. "Well we'll see as much as we can then, hm? It's all new to me as well." He pauses when spotting an oddity around one stall, closing an eye as he mutters, "Are some of those little carvings pulling magic?" He can see some of the flow being drawn toward some of the trinkets on the table, before his eye flits over to the lizard who seems to be tending the stall.

Melia swirls about Tarbin slightly as she considers: [Maybe? I'm not sure. Don't look familiar to me...]

Rhask continues to look around at the folks coming and going, but not really going out of her way to greet anyone that doesn't show interest in the stall. She does, however, appear to be quite cheery while chatting with anyone that does stop by. She doesn't yet take notice of Tarbin.

Tarbin opens his eye, drawing his tails up close instinctively as someone goes to walk by behind him. "Well, no use wondering, hm?" He takes a few steps toward the stall, hesitating to let someone walk by in front of him before finally reaching the stall. On closer inspection he certainly sees a few trinkets drawing on the Flow, though not much more than any living thing does. He clears his throat, looking toward the attendant apparent. "These are lovely, are they your own creations?"

Melia hums, looking over the stall: [Odd things. They... Flow, right? But how?]

Rhask looks over at Tarbin as he approaches the table, only to visibly perk up a bit as he opens the conversation. She smiles, but shakes her head. "If you mean the baubles and such on that side of the table, no, those are all made by Jennica. They're like magical good luck charms, in a way! Or, at least... they help folks with various things through the day! I make the clothing on this side of the table, though." She gestures at the fluffy, patterned sweaters and such folded neatly to one side of the table.

Tarbin blinks, glancing back to the trinket assortment. "Ah, so they are charmed. That explains it, mh." He nods before looking over the clothing, stepping closer to her side of the stall. "Er... These look very warm." He looks toward Rhask.

Melia looks at the clothing and at Rhask: [She seems nice, and those look like comfy. I mean, if you need them. Dunno if I might one day?]

Rhask grins and nods happily. "Oh, they're warm and cozy! I made them in the style of my hometown, so it's also pretty durable, too. Not to mention snug and comfy during cold days and nights!"

Tarbin nods, smiling back at Rhask. It';s nice to be able to return a smile for once, instead of having to assume based on tone of voice if someone is smiling."Oh, you are not from Respite then? I suppose it is a little cool here at night. Where's your hometown?"

Rhask giggles and shakes her head again. "Nope! I'm from Northern Vamas, one of the smaller towns along the northern bay. It's almost always snowing there, so we always dress warm."

Melia pauses, considering: [...where's Vamas?]

Tarbin shakes his head slightly, echoing Melia. "Ah... I don't know where Famis is, sorry. I am not from around here either, though." He chuckles quietly, looking back down toward the sweaters, blushing slightly under his scales as he knows that he didn't repeat the word properly.

Rhask blinks and tilts her head curiously, clearly not all that bothered by the mispronunciation. She figures it might just be an accent or something. "Oh? You're not from Aephix, either? Where are you from, then?"

Tarbin perks up a bit, looking back to Rhask. "Ah, Yuretti. Seems to be West and only a little cooler than Aephix." He cuhckles a bit, "Light cotton clothes, just for protection." He offers a hand to Rhask with a grin. "Good to meet you, fellow stranger. I am Tarbin."

Rhask smiles as she takes hold of Tarbin's hand and gives it a gentle shake. "I'm Rhask! These clothes are pretty sturdy, and I'm trying to adapt the patterns to warmer weather."

Melia: [...for that matter, where's this Yuretti of yours, Tarbin? I think I'm pretty useless with directions. And hi Rhask! Oh wait, she can't hear me, can she.]

Tarbin returns the shake, though he pauses for a moment, his gaze dropping to Rhask's shoulder line before snapping back to her face, his head tilting slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you, miss Rhask!" He lets her hand go, wondering if Melia had caught everything he did. "Your work looks very good! When I earn some money, I will have to see if you have anything in my size."

Rhask hums thoughtfully, a slight blush coloring the skin beneath her scales as Tarbin's gaze drops down for a moment, only for the prospect of a new sale to take priority. "In your size, hm...? Let's see..." After a moment, she bends over to grab a short coil of twine and stands up, "You seem to be about the same size as the Lizards back home. Maybe a little taller..."

Melia lets out a quiet hum, but otherwise stays quiet for the moment. She's observing, shh.

Tarbin chuckles, watching Rhask as she gets up. "Oh? Custom tailored? Ah... I don't have the money right now, though..." He draws his twin tails in against his leg as someone walks by behind him again, although there's plenty of space.

Rhask steps around the table while talking, only to trail off as she catches sight of Tarbin's twin tails as he moves them out of the way of the folks passing behind him. "Well, custom in that I just want to get an..." She blinks, staring at the tails for a moment before looking up at Tarbin again, "...two tails?"

Melia: [Two kinda cute tails, yes.]

Tarbin blushes under his scales at Melia's words, glancing down toward his tails before looking back to Rhask. "Mh, yes." He gives her a somewhat meaningful look, though manages to keep his eyes on her face this time. "They wouldn't cause problems with a sweater, would they?"

Rhask tilts her head curiously, but shakes her head again after a moment's consideration. "Oh, uh... no, of course not, unless you wanted something for your tail. I made something similar for Guard Captain Louma a little while back." She hesitates for a moment, "Um... are... are two tails common in Yuretti?"

Tarbin shakes his head, tails resting beside his foot for now. "Not that common. Most of the time, someone born with two tails has some uh... [talent of power]. Magic, they call it in Common." He scratches his head, thinking. "I haven't met many others."

Rhask seems perhaps a little put out by the news for some reason, but perks up again as she starts to measure Tarbin with the cord. "So you're magical, then? Also... what was that word you said again? Is that your home's language?"

Tarbin nods, hesitating for a moment before raising his arms for the measuring. "I... Am. In a way. [Talent of power]? It is like... Born with magic instead of having to learn to use it. How about you?" He pauses, glancing toward Rhasks neckline again before turning his eyes forward once more. "Does Vamas use Common only?"

Rhask doesn't notice the glance this time as she continues to measure Tarbin for fitting purposes. "No, we know Common and what kind of works as a general Vamas language, uh... I think it might even be an offshoot of Gryphon language?" She giggles after a moment, "And no, I'm not magical, far as I can tell."

Tarbin chuckles, nodding. "Gryphons? I've never met a gryphon as far as I know... That would be new and exciting!" He patiently moves only as Rhask needs, if at all, while she does her thing. "Then again... I could use a break from new and exciting..."

Rhask chuckles as she moves to measure Tarbin's chest and abdomen, nearly finished at this point. "Everything's been new and exciting for me since I arrived here! Though I guess that could be said for everywhere I've been since leaving home."

Tarbin smiles, tilting his head slightly. "I'd like to hear more about your adventures, but also don't want to keep you from your stall all day."

Rhask bounces back upright as she finishes her measurements and coils the twine back up. "It's fine! I'm all done with measuring, anyway. You're just a little taller than average, so I could make something pretty fast for you, I think!" She looks around a bit at the passing customers, "Besides, it's not all too busy here, yet."

Tarbin chuckles as he lays his arms to rest at his sides, nodding. "Ah, I would be happy... Mh. I still have no coin to pay with. That is something I have to do today, find a little work."

Rhask smiles and tucks her hands behind her back a bit, clearly a cheerful, maybe playful sort from the way she happily starts to sway side to side again. "That's fine! Once you're ready to get a bit of clothing, let me know! I'll probably start working on a couple pieces anyway, since keeping a stock's a good idea. At least, that's what Miss Emmeline told me."

Tarbin nods, finding her disposition relaxing as he drops some of his tension, his tails swishing comfortably to the other side of his legs. "I'll keep you in mind, then. Thank you." He gives her a slight bow, glancing back over her stock of sweaters.

Rhask grins as she goes and takes her spot back behind the table again. She vanishes behind the counter for a moment as she sets the twine back in place and grabs some paper and a pencil to jot down her measurements. "Of course, Mister Tarbin! If you're heading off to continue looking for some work, I hope you can find something!"

Tarbin nods, watching Rhask curiously for a few moments before grinning and shaking his head slightly. "I'm sure I will. Take care, miss Rhask! It was good meeting you." With that Tarbin turns, moving on from Rhasks stall to continue conversing in hushed tones with Melia as the 'pair' return to exploring Respite.
