RESPITE FALLS GENERATOR - AFTERNOON
----------------------------------------------
Brunilda is sitting in her usual shade spot outside the building, reading Yet Another Incomprehensible Magitech Encyclopedia as she mulls the new generator plans in her mind. If she's honest with herself, she's itching to get to work on it and not only for the distraction.
Senyi decides to check on the generator again. She's made her way to the front door and knocks swiftly on it.
Brunilda glances up upon hearing the knock from around the corner. She gives a small shout: "May's out at the moment." She grunts as she gets up from her sitting position, curious as to who would come looking here.
Senyi responds, "That's fine. You wouldn't happen to be her apprentice, would you? Just a hunch."
Brunilda actually comes into view from around the building's corner, the average-for-an-elephant-anyway lady looking down towards the voice, raising an eyebrow at the small bunny: "That would be me, yes."
Senyi looks at the elephant, and doesn't really comment on the side disparity. "Ah, very well. You wouldn't happen to know about Senyi, would you?"
Brunilda tilts her head: "About what?"
Senyi "Senyi, the Technician. Unfortunately, that happens to be me. Fortunately, I'm not upset about it."
Brunilda blinks, leaning on the wall: "Oh! Sorry. No, I don't think we have met before." She gives a small nod: "I am Brunilda."
Senyi nods and hovers. "Greetings, Brunilda."
Brunilda nods with a smile: "Pleased to meet you, Senyi." She pauses slightly at the hovering: "...oh. You're one of those magic types."
Senyi looks down at the ground, which is some distance. "Yes, that I am. It's honestly not all that it's cracked up to be, just makes my job slightly easier."
Brunilda looks at Senyi oddly: "If you say so. All I have is my muscles and my wits."
Senyi tilts her head. "How has the work on the generator gone lately?"
Brunilda shrugs: "May's still finishing the draft. I hear some outside techy came to give a few pointers though, so maybe she'll have something up and finished soon."
Senyi puts a hand up to her chin. "Yes, that would have been me."
Brunilda blinks, brightening a bit: "Oh. Heh, fair enough then I guess. But yeah, nothing solid yet."
Senyi nods. "I suppose not much could get done in a few nights..."
Brunilda chuckles, shaking her head: "We rushed the first generator to even have temporary power. Sure as heck aren't going to rush this one."
Senyi closes her eyes. "Of course. That's very understandable."
Brunilda looks at the eerily floating bunny: "So... anything I can help you with, then?"
Senyi thinks about it. "I suppose not much can be done. That said, I am about to go get coffee. If you care to join, I wouldn't mind the company."
Brunilda shrugs a bit: "Guess I can take a break from my reading."
Senyi: "Very well. Let's get a move on, then."
Brunilda smiles and starts heading down the familiar path towards the Minnow: "I presume you're familiar with the Thirsty Minnow? It's kind of hard to miss." She gives the floating critter a sideways glance, feeling uncertain about the whole magic thing, but refrains from commenting.
Senyi shrugs. "Well, of course I'd know where it is. That's where my lodging is." She's kinda gotten wind as to how the floating disturbs the elephant so she slowly sets foot on the ground.
Brunilda nods as she walks: "Fair enough. It probably is the most common place for newcomers to stay at until they find their own place here."
Senyi mumbles something under her breath about "how long I'm gonna be here grr grr"
Brunilda glances at the bunny: "What was that?"
Senyi: "It was nothing."
Brunilda looks at Senyi for a second, then nods and continues walking: "Fair enough."
Brunilda continues to the Minnow with Senyi, where the two have a noneventful coffee moment with minimal conversation before parting ways.

NESSETH'S HOUSE - LATE AFTERNOON
----------------------------------------------
Vix lounges in Nesseth's living room, staring out the window at the activity on the street.
Nesseth passes by the window on his way back from the barracks. A few seconds later, the doorknob turns as he unlocks the door and steps in with a bit of a stretch and a yawn.
Vix comes up alongside Nesseth and gives him a hug. "Heya~"
Nesseth jumps in surprise as he's hugged, but he returns the hug with a chuckle after a moment. "Oh, hey there, Vix. Wasn't expecting to see you today."
Vix purrs. "But you see me almost every day!"
Nesseth reaches a hand up and lightly scratches behind Vix's ears. "I guess I do. It's always a nice surprise, though!"
Vix hums while she enjoys the scratches. "Your house smells nice today. Did you cook something without me~?"
Nesseth nods a bit. "Yeah, been preparing stuff for the trip out. Extra rations and the like..."
Vix: Ah yeah, the trip...I guess I shouldn't be swiping your foodstuffs this time, eh?"
Nesseth smirks a bit. "Well, you can snack on whatever is in the pantry while I'm gone. I'll just have to restock when I get back."
Vix: Oooh, pantry privileges~?
Nesseth nods. "Yeah, it'll all just go to waste otherwise, so if you can make use of the stuff that can spoil, go for it."
Vix makes her way back to the kitchen and empties her pockets of the wrapped, preserved rations that she picked up earlier. ""Hehe...here's the ones I was gonna take to snack on later. Sorry~"
Nesseth follows Vix into the kitchen and watches as she empties out the rations from her pockets. He raises an eyebrow at the amount she snagged, but smirks as he looks at her. "Tell you what, I made a lot, so if you have a couple you want, you can have them. I can make more later, if anything."
Vix smiles and puts one back into her now-empty pockets. "Alrighty! I'll just take a little sample~"
Nesseth leans in and gives Vix a playful little peck on the tip of her nose. "If you like them that much, I can make some here and there when I get the supplies to do so. They last a while~"
Vix giggles. "Let's add them to the menu~"
Nesseth chuckles, grinning. "Sure. I'll whip some up once in a while, then. Maybe even keep a little stock for you to nibble on here and there."
Vix gives Nesseth another hug before making her way back to the couch. "Mmm, pocket food...I bet that kind of thing would sell pretty well, huh~?"
Nesseth follows Vix back to the sofa after he stacks up the rations on the dining table again. He stretches, then flops onto one of the cushions. "Portable snacks could be useful. I bet some folks would enjoy those while out and about."
Vix stretches across Ness's lap. "How much do you think one of those rations would sell for anyways?"
Nesseth idly pets Vix as she stretches out, his head tilted as he thinks a bit. "Hm... for work put in, plus the cost of ingredients... you could probably sell them somewhat cheaply. Maybe a gold or two apiece, if you'd rather sell fast."
Vix nods. "Could do big batches. Maybe put some nice packaging on them!"
Nesseth uses his spare hand to rub the scales on his chin. "Hmm... I wonder if we could get a discount on the packaging materials from anyone..."
Vix purrs. "Maybe I could score some paper scraps or something. That would be perfect for these~"
Nesseth hums and nods as he continues to lightly pet Vix. "That could be a good idea. When I get back from that trip into the mountains, I'll ask around as well, see if I can turn up anything."
Vix pulls the ration from her pocket and examines it. "What's in this anyways? Is it like the ones I used to...er...the soldiers used to give me?"
Nesseth shakes his head a bit. "Not really. It's kind of a mix of things, mostly from what I remember of my time back home, along with some modifications to suit my own tastes. Cooked, ground up meat, a lightweight batter to bind it together, some honey for sweetness, and seasonings to taste."
Vix hums as she gets some ideas. "Hmmm, you ever been to a festival? They sometimes sell meat that's fried as little nuggets there!"
Nesseth gives Vix a curious look. "I've been to festivals, but... nothing all too big. So, you mean like... fried just as nuggets of meat, or do they have seasoning and breading and the like?"
Vix smiles. "Seasoning, breading, sometimes sauces too! They seem easy to make, but they might be hard to keep hot and fresh..."
Nesseth nods after a moment of thought. "Yeah, they seem like they'd cook up easily enough. They're probably made fresh right there during the festival, I bet."
Vix taps her chin. "But if they're candied, folks won't mind if they're not hot, right?"
Nesseth blinks and gives Vix a bit of an odd look. "Candied... meat nuggets...?"
Vix: Yeah! Sweet and savory, you know?
Nesseth hums thoughtfully, not exactly convinced yet. "Is... that even possible to make?"
Vix hums. "I could fry them in batter, then add a sugar glaze or something! Folks around here like their sweets, you know~"
Nesseth chuckles. "Fair enough. I guess there's no harm in at least trying it and seeing what people think."
Vix giggles. "Mm...now I'm thinking about other festival foods~"
Nesseth smiles. "Really? Why not tell me of a couple, and maybe I can try to make something similar."
Vix: Let's see...lots of fried stuff. I met some folks who claimed they could fry anything!
Nesseth tilts his head. "Anything? I dunno, frying is good, but not everything is fit for it, I'd say."
Vix: Hehe...you'd be surprised~
Nesseth hums a bit, still idly petting Vix. "If you've got the recipes, I can give them a try."
Vix purrs. "Festival food recipe book...maybe the baker has something..."
Nesseth nods. "Yeah, most likely. They've probably got all the recipes most folks in town use."
Vix stretches her arms above her head. "Better look forward to some new delicious products when you get back~
Nesseth chuckles. It's a good thing I've got an active job, then. If they're tasty, I might not have the willpower to stop eating them."
Vix blinks, suddenly remembering something. She starts to dig in her pockets. "Oh yeah! Speaking of your trip..."
Nesseth tilts his head and lifts his hand up a bit off of Vix as she starts to rummage about. "Hm? What about it?"
Vix pulls a small purple wooden token from her pockets and presents it to Nesseth. It's carved in the shape of a cat's paw. "Here, this is for you! I little good luck charm I carved earlier..."
Nesseth blinks and tilts his head as he accepts the little token. He holds it in his hand and brings it a little closer to his face to examine. "Wow... thank you, Vix." He grins as he shifts his gaze from the charm to the feline on his lap, "With all the luck I've got from you and Plume, I think this expedition will turn out just fine."
Vix grins. "I stained the wood with berries, so it should still smell pretty good!"
Nesseth hums curiously, then brings the token up to his nose for a quick little sniff. "Huh... it does smell nice!"
Vix sits up a bit and hugs Nesseth. "There, now, you're super lucky! Nevermind that I'm a black cat and all..."
Nesseth holds tight to the charm as he gives Vix a warm hug in turn. "That just means the luck is extra potent."
Vix giggles. "Well, I have been crossing your path pretty often~"
Nesseth chuckles and nods. "Yup, and yet my luck's been pretty good this entire time."
Vix makes herself more comfortable as she cuddles against Nesseth. "Got some time for snuggles, Ness~?"
Nesseth nods again, smiling as he lets Vix settle in comfortably against him. "Yeah, we don't leave for a couple of days, yet. Plenty of time for snuggles."
Vix purrs as she pulls Nesseth down into the soft couch cushions
Nesseth flops over onto the cushions, slightly surprised by Vix's leverage, but he just hums after a moment and hugs the feline close.
