MARKET SQUARE - EVENING
----------------------------------------------
Louma opens the door of the seamstress, poking her head out the door and peering around the mostly empty marketplace. She turns back, thanking them with a bow and exiting the shop quickly, a long, flat box under her arm. She's still dressed up in her uniform.
Kira is flying around the marketplace refilling the lanterns there even though it's not quite dark enough to light them just yet. They're still the first lanterns lit each night, though, as the market needs to be well lit to keep thieves and ruffians at bay.
Louma ducks her head instinctively as something flies over her, though it's really only the shadow she winds up flinching at, turning to see what it was with a scowl until she recognizes the moth. "Ah! Kira, you nearly gave me a heart attack!" She laughs, waving.
Kira stops when she lands on the next lamppost and looks down at Louma. "Ah. Captain Louma, I'm sorry. Also, welcome back. I haven't seen you in a few moons..."
Louma nods, smiling up at the moth. "Ah, yes, I and a few other guards were out on a search for the missing expedition." Her smile falls, looking away from Kira. "We were not successful."
Kira frowns a bit. "That's sad..." She finishes refilling the lamp and flutters down next to Louma.
Louma sighs, shifting her parcel as she settles a bit. "I have hopes that they're alright, we found neither good or bad signs. Perhaps we'll send another search party after them soon."
Kira frowns a bit. "I hope they are found, and may the moon protect them until then." She looks up at Louma's box and cocks her head. "What's that?"
Louma hums, looking at the box and hesitating. "Oh, this is... Nothing too important. Just something from back home. Recent events made me want to dig it up."
Kira gives a little nod. "Ah. I hope it brings you joy, then." She takes up and flutters a bit. "There is so much work to do now... I feel... conflicted."
Louma looks about at all the lamp posts. "I suppose you've been quite busy since the generator incident, hm?"
Kira nods. "Yes. Much responsibility, but I do my best and no lamp has run dark yet..." She flutters in place as she looks over at the lazily setting sun.
Louma: "Well, thank you for all your hard work! Hm, I'm finished the paperwork that I want to do (none), I could help you out with lighting lamps tonight, if you'd like."
Kira nods. "If you like, yes." She looks at Louma. "Can you climb the poles?"
Louma shrugs. "Might not need to climb." She slithers up to the nearest pole, looking up at the lamp high above. Gripping the lamppost with one hand, Louma spreads her wings and ascends to the glass with ease, though she struggles to maintain an even height.
Kira blinks. "Oh, yes, of course... I never saw you fly before, I suppose."
Louma sets herself back down on the ground, shaking her wings out before folding them back. "Really? I suppose I do try to avoid flying at night. But I may have overestimated how much help you'd get from me..."
Kira ponders for a moment. "I believe there's a long hook over at the south gatehouse..." She tends to the lamp next to Louma. "In either case, I would welcome company tonight. I've been meeting more folk in town lately, and everyone is nice so far."
Louma: "There are a lot of new faces, that's for sure. I think I know which hook you're talking about. Where do you think you'll be when the sun sets? I'll drop this and my uniform off, grab that and meet you there."
Kira flutters in place as she looks around. "I can meet you at the south gate."
Louma nods, chuckling. "That is a much simpler plan, I've been overthinking a lot of late." She moves a safe distance away from the lamp post and salutes towards Kira, taking off with a pouff of loose down.
Kira blinks as the captain vanishes, but quickly gets back to her task, having just enough time to finish before it gets too dark.
