ANOTER TIME - ANOTHER TOWN - ANOTHER WORLD - TOWN SQUARE
----------------------------------------------
Vix lazily sunbathes at the edge of the town square, lounging behind her blanket full of miscellaneous wares. She stretches out her paws and flicks her tail as she yawns.
Vix: Myaaa...slow day today...
Nesseth steps through the square, carefully sidestepping around folks going about their business for the day as he searches for a specific market stall. After a short moment spent looking around, he spots Vix's stall and immediately starts walking over.
Vix perks up a bit as she notices a familiar scaly face approaching her. "Oh! Hey, hey, new stock in this morning! Check it out, one-of-a-kind things 'n' such!"
Nesseth smiles as he approaches, waving a scaly hand in greeting. "That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I'm in need of a new capacitor for my crossbow. The one I got last time is kind of starting to go on the fritz, so a replacement might be necessary if I can't fix this one."
Vix grins a pointy grin as she waves a black paw over some neatly-arranged cylindrical doodads. "Ohoho, you're in luck today, mister!" She points to a cylinder that's a fair bit larger than the rest. "We've got a very special supersize capacitor!"
Nesseth crouches down and looks at the capacitor in question with an air of interest. "Huh, one this size could keep my crossbow going for a while... assuming I install it correctly, anyway. How much are you asking for it?"
Vix holds up two claws. "Two hundred~"
Nesseth blinks, then nods after a moment and starts digging into one of the pockets of his satchel. "Alright, then. I guess I can't really expect a lower price, considering how rare it is."
Vix hums as she holds out her paws. "You know I've got the good stuff~"
Nesseth deposits the money into Vix's paws, then carefully picks up the oversized capacitor and examines it a little more closely. "Yeah, it's all pretty high-quality." He looks up at Vix after a moment, "Out of curiosity, where'd you get this one?"
Vix puts the money in her lockbox, purring. "That's a trade secret~! One man's trash is another cat's profit~"
Nesseth nods as he unslings his crossbow and takes a few moments to compare the capacitor sizes, to see if he can make the new one fit properly. "Fair enough. You definitely turn a profit with all of these bits and bobbles, I'm sure."
Vix giggles. "Out here doin' my best! Let me know if that thingy gives you any trouble, and I'll uh...probably just sell you a new one!"
Nesseth arches an eyebrow at Vix, pausing in his examination of the piece. "You... didn't do anything to this, right? No tinkering to make sure it fails early?"
Vix sticks her tongue out. "Nah, but to be fair, I did pick it up off the ground."
Nesseth nods. "Alright, just wanted to make sure. The last thing I want is for one of these things to blow up in my face..."
Vix: If anything, that thing looks pretty new. Should be alright for a few weeks at least~
Nesseth smiles a bit. "I guess it'll depend on how often I have to use it, right?"
Vix: Well, with your crossbow supercharged with that thing, you'll make your 200 back in no time~
Nesseth nods as he stands back up and tucks the capacitor away in one of the pockets of his satchel. "Yeah, and it'll also mean caravans should be a bit safer coming in from the port."
Vix grins. "Meaning more leftover merch for me!"
Nesseth laughs. "So it's a win-win, right? Anyway, thanks for the capacitor. I should get back home and install it, so I can get to work repairing the old one."
Vix waves. "Ta-ta! Come back soon~!"
Nesseth grins and tosses Vix a little salute as he turns to leave the square. "I'll be back some time soon to see what else you've got, for sure!"
Vix returns to sunbathing as her customer walks away, but is startled out of it a few moments later as a loud pop echoes across town and the color of the sky seems to change slightly.
Nesseth pauses in his tracks, as does everyone else in the square, and looks up curiously. He frowns a little as the square goes quiet. "Uh... what... was that...?"
